RST Golf Charity Day Format

Texas Scramble is a team game in which every member of the group tees off on each hole. The players then decide which ball is in the best position for the second shot. Once this is confirmed, the other members of the team will pick up their balls and everyone will play from an area near the tee shot position. (doesn’t have to be the exact position) Once on the putting green the ball is marked and all 4 players play their balls from this exact position. This is good as teammates are allowed to and will want to watch putts to help those putting afterward. Putts must be holed out– there are no gimmes in a Texas Scramble. Each team member has to contribute a MINIMUM of three TEE shots around the 18 holes. Each team competing returns one score for each hole, and the team with the lowest total score at the end of the round is the winner.

Handicap System

The maximum handicap: M = 28, F = 36

Texas Scramble (4 players) 25% / 20% / 15% / 10% from the lowest to highest handicap

Player A: 1.25 (5 x 25%) + Player B: 2 (10 x 20%) + Player C: 2.25 (15 x 15%) + Player D: 2 (20 x 10%) = 7.5

Generally in Texas Scramble, you also don’t round up or down the handicaps. So, if the team above scored 71 gross, then they would take away their handicap of 7.5 giving them a net score of 63.5 which is what they would mark on the card and return.
