Grand Bear Golf Club June 6, 2024 -- Rules Sheet

 

Play is governed by the Rules of Golf effective January 2024, the CJT Hard Card, and the following Local Rules which apply to this golf course.

  1. PREFERRED LIES IN EFFECT: Ball may be lifted, cleaned, and place within one club length of the original spot.
  2. Starting Point Defined: Rule 5.3a -- the starting point for all holes is defined by the teeing area being used.  
  3. Tees: all play will begin from designated Division Tees 
  4. One Ball Rule: the One Ball Rule is NOT in effect. 
  5. Out of Bounds: There is no Out of Bounds in play at Grand Bear Golf Club
  6. Dropping Zones: as additional options under Rule 17.1d the following Dropping Zones are available:
  • Hole #3 left of green. 
  • Hole #4 for approach shots only, located on the other side of the hazard in front of the green. 
  • Hole #5 for approach shots only, located on the other side of the Hazard  at beginning of fairway.
  • Hole #6 left of green down in the valley, for balls hit in the penalty area over the green.
  • Hole #14 front of green
  • Hole #16 front of green to the right
  1. Red Penalty Areas: RPA
  • RPA  is All lines marked with red paint.
  • RPA is All unkept wooded areas are to be played as RPA
  • If an area has not been marked with red boundary line, use the outer edge of the unkept wooded areas as the boundary line.

Model Local Rules: In addition to the MLR’s on Hard Card,

  • MLR F-5 is in effect for immovable obstructions close to putting greens.  The ball and the obstruction have to be in area cut to fairway height or less. 
  • MLR F-6 is in effect limiting relief from animal holes to lie of ball and area of intended swing only (not stance) in non-turfed areas AND for the Abnormal Course Conditions marked with dots on putting greens
  1. Temporary Immovable Obstructions: mainly Tee Signs

Relief on Either Side: Model Local Rule F-23 is in effect and includes any temporary immovable obstruction installed for the championship. If a player has line of sight interference from any TIO and is entitled to relief, as an additional option, he may take relief on the other side of the TIO along the arc without penalty. When taking relief on the other side of the TIO, the player may only take relief under the TIO Local Rule, not Rule 16.1.

  1. Integral Objects: In addition to the items listed on the CJT Hard Card, integral objects also include signage or displays located within penalty areas, broken concrete fill and gates attached to boundary objects.
  2. Practice: Before or between rounds players may practice on and around any of the practice ranges, practice putting greens or practice pitching/chipping areas. See Hard Card for restrictions on course before or between rounds.
  3. Scoring Areas Defined (Paperless, electronic scoring): For the purpose of applying Rule 3.3b, the scoring area for all holes are defined by the scoring area inside the clubhouse.  For the purpose of returning the paperless scorecard, the player has returned his scorecard when he has left the area inside the pavilion. 
  4. Ties: In case of a ties for first place will be a playoff decided by tournament committee. All other ties will be broken using the USGA 9, 6, 3, 1 method. 
  5. Appeals Committee: Final decisions, including pace of play appeals will be made and Allan Martel and Rory Nelson.
