Dear MWA Competitor,

It is our distinct pleasure to welcome you to the 2018 Maine Women’s Amateur. The Maine State Golf Association thanks and congratulates you for participation in this prestigious tournament. We are very excited and honored to hold the 2018 Maine Women’s Amateur at the classically beautiful and challenging Rockland Golf Club.        

            We would like to extend sincere appreciation to Keenan Flanagan, Rockland’s Golf Professional, for his expert advice and time spent in preparation for this tournament.  We would also like to thank the staff of Sandbaggers for their expertise and welcoming hospitality in the clubhouse.

            Many thanks to our team of volunteers (spotters, starters, registration helpers) and the Maine State Golf Association staff who have given so generously their time and effort to make this tournament enjoyable for all. As we all know that it could not have been done without their assistance.

            A special thank you to the Committee members who started working on this event several months ago. They have dedicated many hours to making sure this championship tournament is a success.

            We hope you enjoy these three days of Maine women’s golf. If we can assist you in anyway, please let us know.

 

Helpful information to ensure an enjoyable and successful event:

 

Practice facilities:  A practice range is available at the Samoset Resort and Golf Club. Monday the range will be available at 6:15. Tuesday and Wednesday it will be open at 6:45. Goose River Golf Club and Fuller Chevrolet- GMC Truck Inc. are the sponsors of the driving range. Balls can be picked up in the pro shop.

Carts: Carts for the tournament will be $20 a person. Please contact the pro shop to reserve carts for your round.  Pro shop number is 207.594.9322

Water:   Bottled water in coolers will be available on holes 1, 5, 10, and 14. There is no other water on the golf course.

Bathrooms: There are bathrooms on hole # 5 and hole #14 at the men’s tees.

Caution:  Please be careful when crossing the road to the 1st tee. Cars travel much too fast around that corner.  There will be extra score cards, pencils, and bug spray at the 1st tee.

Food:  Light breakfast, coffee, juice, and snack items will be available each morning in the clubhouse. Sandbaggers will have quiche and breakfast sandwiches that you may purchase.  Lunch specials will include: Lobster roll special with roll, pickle, FF, and fountain drink. There will also be a crabmeat roll special. The regular full lunch menu will include: sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, salads and wraps. There is a full bar.  

Awards Ceremony:  An hors d’oeuvres buffet will be served Wednesday following play in the clubhouse. These refreshments are free.

There will be a 50/50 raffle every day and a special golf basket raffle which includes golf for Rockland, Samoset, and Northport.

For those of you who want to dine out there are many fine restaurants in the Mid Coast. Camden has Peter Otts, The Waterfront, Rhum Line, Fresh, Long Grain, and Sea Dog. Rockland has Archers in the Pier and many more. Rockport has 18 Central. Keenan or Marcia will lead you in the right direction.  There are also some nice ice cream stands in downtown Camden.

 

We at Rockland are excited to have you at our course. Keenan and his staff have worked very hard to prepare a beautiful golf course for you. The best of luck and keep your fingers crossed for good weather.
