JACKSON PARK MEN'S GOLF CLUB

CHAMPIONSHIP NET MATCH PLAY 2024

ENTRY FEE:                       $20 per player

ENTRY DEADLINE:          APRIL 16

START DATE:                     APRIL 29

FORMAT:                             White Tees and 18-hole matches

If age and handicap combined are 85+, may play Gold Tees.

Play sudden death if tied after 18 holes, starting on the first hole.

Apply the same handicap holes as on the first 18 holes.

The course handicap of the higher handicap player will be reduced by the course handicap of the player with the lower handicap, who shall then play from scratch. The resulting handicap for the other player will be distributed as determined by hole handicaps. Example: Player #1, with a 4-course handicap, and Player #2, with an 8-course handicap, would have Player #1 play as scratch and Player #2 would play to a 4-handicap, taking strokes on the four holes rated from 1 to 4.

iii. Match Play – The USGA’s guidelines for how to play Match Play are in effect for this event. Click here to view more information on how to play Match Play and FAQs on common questions that come up in Match Play. We strongly encourage participants to always have clear communication with their opponents about the status of the match. Both players should also keep a scorecard.

Net Match Play Tournament has pods of four players ~ for the first round

Pod Play - A random draw will place each player into a pod of four players. The field will be sorted by handicaps into four groups of sixteen players. On Sunday, April 21, at the Jackson Park restaurant, there will be a random drawing to fill pods. One player from each group will be selected to fill each pod. All players are required to play each player in their pod once. After all matches are played, the player with the best record in each pod will advance to Bracket Play. (See below for tiebreaker information). Each player will play one match against each other player in their pod. The player with the best record in each pod after the completion of matches will advance to Bracket Play.

Pod Play Rules – Players that fail to play all three Pod Play matches will be ineligible to advance to Bracket Play. The event committee will hear appeals based on extenuating circumstances. These rules are in place to ensure the integrity of the event.

Pod Play Tiebreakers – Each player will play one match against each other player in their pod. The player with the best record in each pod after the completion of all matches will advance to Bracket Play. If there is a tie, the tie will be broken using the following procedures:

1. Head-to-head matchup result.

2. If three players have identical records: The best +/- differentials will advance. (Example: Player 1 | Match 1: Wins 3&2 (+3) | Match 2: Loses 1 Down (-1) | Match 3: Wins 6&5) (+6) | 3-1+6= 8 | Player 1 Differential = +8

3. If three players are tied and two of them have identical +/- differentials, revert to head-to-head matchup to break tie.

4. If three players are tied and all have identical +/- differential, the Tournament Director will blind draw the player to advance:

A. Example of pod standings with three-way and two-way ties:

a. 3-0 | 1-2 | 1-2 | 1-2

b. 2-1 | 2-1 | 2-1 | 0-3

c. 2-1 | 2-1 | 1-2 | 1-2

5. Forfeits and coin flips:

A. Forfeits will be treated as a 3&2 loss for the player that forfeits. Please note: Players that do not complete all three Pod Play matches are ineligible to advance to Bracket Play. The committee will hear appeals based on extenuating circumstances.

B. Players that win by coin flip will be given a 1 up result.
