We are looking forward to having you compete in the 57th Pacific Coast Amateur Championship at Chamber Bay in University Place, Washington on July 23-26, 2024. The following information is important as it pertains to your participation in the championship. Please review this information thoroughly as it will greatly assist you in preparing to compete in the championship.

TRANSPORTATION AND SHUTTLE
The Pacific Coast Amateur Championship will be providing contestants a voucher through UBER that can be used from Saturday, July 20 at 12:00 p.m. to Saturday, July 27 at 12:00 p.m. The voucher will give you a credit of $150 to assist you in the cost of getting to/from the airport. The voucher will only work to/from the SeaTac Airport, Chambers Bay, and Host Hotels listed above. To use this service, you will need to download the UBER app on your mobile phone and set up an account. The voucher code will be emailed out to all contestants. The PCGA will provide a shuttle to/from the host hotels each day of the championship, starting the afternoon of Monday, July 22. The schedule will be posted at registration and on the championship portal.
PRACTICE ROUNDS - PLAYERS
Practice rounds at Chamber Bay will be available to contestants on Monday, July 22. Starting times for practice rounds are from 7:36 a.m. – 11:48 a.m., and then again from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Players are only allowed one complimentary practice round and they will not be available to contestants prior to Monday, July 22 unless authorized by the PCGA. All practice round starting time arrangements must be made through the PCGA office in Tacoma, WA by calling Marie Hasegawa at (253) 214-2910.
REGISTRATION
Registration for contestants will be Monday, July 22nd from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Registration will be located outside of the large white event tent located near the golf shop.

YARDAGE BOOKS
We will be providing each player with a yardage book. They will be handed out at registration with the championship yardage, so be sure to register before playing your practice round. For those of you playing your practice round before registration opens, we will make arrangements for the golf shop to give you one.
DRESS CODE
The PCGA dress code applies to contestants, caddies, and gallery, and will be strictly enforced during the championship week. Suitable attire must be worn at all times. Suitable attire DOES NOT include jeans or denim of any kind or color, running suits, CARGO PANTS OR SHORTS (Pockets on sides), tank tops, t-shirts or unkempt clothing of any kind. Shorts are permitted but must be worn at mid-thigh length or longer. All shirts must have collars and must be worn tucked in. Failure to adhere to the dress code may result in disqualification and removal from club property. NOTE: Cargo pants or shorts are defined as having side pockets on the side of the leg.
MOTORIZED TRANSPORTATION (CARTS)
Motorized transportation is prohibited, the Local Rule prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect. Model Local Rule G-6.
PULL CARTS
The use of pull carts is allowed. Chambers Bay has plenty for the players to use.
CADDIES
Chambers Bay has caddies available for the championship. Reservations can be made by contacting Bryan Pierce, Golf Operations Manager and Caddy Manager via email. The caddy fee is $100 plus gratuity per round. Payment is made directly to the caddy. Payment should be made in cash. Some caddies accept Venmo, etc., but check with caddy beforehand. Contestants must reserve a caddy as soon as possible.

SPECTATOR CARTS
To provide an equal championship platform for all competitors, the use of carts by spectators is not permitted by the PCGA. Additionally, Chambers Bay is a walking only golf course.
METHODS OF PAYMENT
All major credit cards (except Discover) are accepted throughout the facility.
NO HOSTED FOOD AND BEVERAGE (BREAKFAST)
Players are on their own for breakfast in the morning. PCGA will host lunches each day of the championship and a barbecue on Monday, July 22nd (See below). Chambers Bay’s snack bar, at the bottom of the hill near the #1 tee, will be open and have breakfast burritos and other snacks to purchase beginning at 6:30 a.m.
PLAYERS HOSTED WELCOME BARBECUE (Cost for Players Included in Entry Fee)
The Players’ Welcome Barbecue will be held on Monday, July 22nd beginning at 6:00 p.m. (social hour) and 7:00 (barbecue). The PCGA hosts this dinner for all players (included in the entry fee), volunteers and officials. Business casual/golf attire is preferred. The Players’ Barbecue will be in the large white event tent near the golf shop and restaurant.
PCGA HOSTED LUNCH EACH DAY OF CHAMPIONSHIP (Cost for Players Included in Entry Fee)
To further assist in deferring player expenses, the PCGA will host a lunch (included in the entry fee) each day for players (Tuesday-Friday). Lunch will be in the large white event tent near the golf shop and restaurant.
CHAMBERS BAY HOURS OF OPERATION
The golf shop will open at 6:00 a.m. The Chambers Bay Grill (restaurant) is open beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and 9:00 a.m. on Thursday and Friday. The Snack Shack down the hill by the #1 tee is open each day at 6:30 a.m. Practice facility/driving range will open each day at 6:30 a.m.
MORSE CUP
The traditional Morse Cup team photos will be taken Wednesday morning, July 24, prior to play. The location and a specific schedule of photo times for each association will be distributed to those on a Morse Cup team at registration.
FORMAT
Individual - The Individual Championship shall be conducted over 72 holes. There is no cut. In the event of a tie, the individual champion will be determined by a hole-by-hole playoff immediately after the conclusion of play.
Morse Cup Team – The team Championship, consisting of PCGA member association teams only, will be conducted over the first 36 holes. The two low scores of three each day will be totaled to determine the winning association team of the Morse Cup competition and Trophy. In the event of a tie, co-champions will be declared.
AWARDS
Individual – The low individual scorer will receive a PCGA Gold Championship Medal and a Crystal Trophy and his name will be engraved on the Edgar Updegraff Pacific Coast Amateur Championship Perpetual Trophy. Individuals finishing second will receive a PCGA Silver Championship Medal. Individuals finishing third will receive a PCGA Bronze Championship Medal.
Morse Cup Team - The winning association holds the Morse Cup Perpetual Trophy for one year. Each team member receives a Gold Championship Medal. Each member of the team(s) finishing in second place will receive a Silver Championship Medal.
PACE OF PLAY
The PCGA pace of play policy that will be in effect for this championship. A separate memorandum to players with the details of this policy will be made available on the championship portal and also handed out at registration and on the first tee.
LOCAL RULES AND TERMS OF THE COMPETITION
Players are encouraged to be familiar with the Local Rules and Terms of the Competition, which will be available on the championship portal and handed out at registration and the first tee.
PROHIBITED USE OF AUDIO EQUIPMENT
Rule 4.3 is modified in this way: During a round, a player is not allowed to use an electronic device to listen to music or other audio (such as podcasts or the like), including by using speakers, headphones or earbuds. Penalty for breach of Local Rule - see Rule 4.3.
CONDUCT CODE
The PCGA expects all contestants, caddies, gallery, and guests to exhibit proper conduct and behavior on the golf course and anywhere on club property. Unbecoming conduct or behavior may be grounds for immediate disqualification, at any time. The following are some examples of unbecoming conduct or behavior:
- Repeated use of loud, abusive, and/or profane language
- Throwing and/or breaking equipment (club, ball, etc.) in anger or frustration
- Damaging host club, PCGA, and/or fellow contestant property
- Public criticism or verbal abuse of host club, officials, volunteers or staff, and/or PCGA volunteers, staff or fellow contestants
- Potential endangerment of others
- Intentionally violating stated club policy
- Violation of PCGA Dress Code and/or Footwear Policy
- Other conduct deemed unbecoming
The Committee in charge of the competition shall be the sole judge of determining Conduct Code violations.

The Pacific Coast Amateur Championship is part of the Elite Amateur Golf Series (EAGS). Created to challenge the best of the best in amateur golf, the Elite Amateur Golf Series brings together the top amateur championships in a collective series of competition, the Elite Amateur Cup. The Elite Amateur Cup is a point’s race by competing in the seven historic Elite Amateur Golf Series championships: Sunnehanna Amateur, Northeast Amateur, North & South Amateur, Trans-Miss Amateur, Southern Amateur, Pacific Coast Amateur and the Western Amateur.
Elite Amateur Cup point system is the cumulative total of World Amateur Golf Ranking® (WAGR) points earned from competing in the seven EAGS events. The Elite Amateur Cup winner is the player with the most points at the end of the series that culminates with the Western Amateur. Top finishers in the series earn exemptions into USGA Championships, PGA Tour, and Korn Ferry Tour events. A player must compete in a minimum of three events to be eligible for exemptions.
