The Vintage Golf Club – Additional Local Rules
(To be read in conjunction with the JNJG & GNSW Local Rules Hard Card and the Rules of Golf as adopted by the R&A)
Any Local Rules displayed on the clubs’ local rules board or as printed on the club’s scorecard are to be disregarded for this event.
STAKES
All stakes marking Penalty Areas (red), Ground Under Repair (white) and No Play Zone (white with green top) are deemed to be immovable obstructions and must not be removed.
PENALTY AREAS: (RULE 17)
All areas defined by red stakes or red painted surfaces are penalty areas. Relief R.17.1d.
DROP ZONES:
Optional drop zones are available on holes – 1st, 8th (black tee only), 13th and 16th when a ball is lost in any penalty area. Penalty area penalties apply.
Drop Zone on 1st may also be used as a relief option for the GUR between path and fairway.
OUT OF BOUNDS: (RULE 18)
White stakes with black tops and all residential boundaries define out of bounds. Out of bounds is determined by the inside points of the boundary object at ground level. The post and rail fence adjacent to the 7th green is a boundary object.
ABNORMAL COURSE CONDITIONS (RULE 16.1)
Areas defined by white stakes or white line/s, wheel ruts made by course machinery or other motor vehicle, ants’ nests greater than 30cm x 30cm, footprints left by kangaroos in bunkers (R. 16.1c). No relief if the ball lies in a penalty area. Relief without penalty MUST be taken from any staked tree or shrub.
OVERHEAD WIRES AND PYLONS:
If a ball strikes overhead wires or pylons the player may replay the stroke without penalty.
IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS: (RULE 16.1)
As defined in the Rules of Golf (ropes which are able to be detached are not immovable obstructions). But, no relief from interference by an immovable obstruction when the ball lies in a penalty area.
IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS CLOSE TO PUTTING GREEN: MODEL LOCAL RULE F-6
Relief without penalty may be taken when an immovable obstruction within two club lengths of the putting green intervenes on the line of play, but only if the ball lies within two club lengths of that immovable obstruction.
GARDEN BEDS:
Gardens, unless marked otherwise, are integral objects – relief without penalty is NOT AVAILABLE.
NO PLAY ZONE/S:
Play is prohibited from any area defined / marked by white stakes with green tops.
PROVISIONAL BALL: MODEL LOCAL RULE B-3
If there is doubt that a ball is in or lost in a penalty area the player may play a provisional ball under rule 17.1.
Once the player has played a provisional ball under this Rule, they may not use any further options under Rule 17.1 re the original ball.
PROHIBITING OR RESTRICTING USE OF AUDIO AND VIDEO DEVICES: MODEL LOCAL RULE G-8
During a round a player must not listen to or watch content of any nature on a personal audio or video device.
CARTS ON PATHS INVOKED
If a “carts on paths” policy is invoked, a player may lift, clean and replace his/her ball that lies in areas cut to fairway height.
PENALTIES FOR BREACH OF LOCAL RULES: (RULE 1.3)
General penalty: Loss of hole in match play and a two-stroke penalty in stroke play.
