Open Tournament Rules 

 

  1. USGA Rules govern all play.

  2. Play from Red Tee Boxes

  3. Scorecards – Exchange scorecards with your fellow competitors.   Please turn in your SIGNED AND ATTESTED card on the patio outside dining room as quickly as possible following play.

  4. Pace of play – Your scorecard is set to a 4.5 hour pace of play.  If you don’t see the group ahead of you and are behind time on your scorecard, please catch up to the group ahead of you.

  5. Red Penalty Area – On holes #5, #10 and #16, as an option, you may use the ball drop area if your ball entered the penalty area closer to the hole than the ball drop. Bridge on hole #9 is in the penalty area.

  6. Abnormal Course Conditions 

    • Ground Under Repair - Defined by white lines

    • Liners in bunkers and french drains are deemed Ground Under Repair Rule 16.1.

    • If a player's ball lands in an animal footprint in a bunker, the player may mark and drop their ball in the bunker no closer to the hole.

    • Animal holes - Holes and excavation tracks caused by animals (except worms and insects), such as mole hills, mouse and rabbit holes may be treated as Ground Under Repair Rule 16.1.

    • Animal Dung - Player may take relief from animal dung. At the player's option, dung from animals may be treated as either a loose impediment that may be removed under rule 15.1 or Ground Under Repair Rule 16.1 

  7. Electronic Devices – A player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only and may share this information.

  8. Cart paths and their natural borders are obstructions. (Rule 16.1)

  9. Animal tracks on putting green – Animal tracks have the same status as ball marks or hole plugs and are repairable.  

  10. Immovable Obstructions Close to Putting Greens ‐ The player has the option to take relief when immovable obstructions (i.e. sprinkler heads) are on the line of play, within two club‐lengths of the putting green, and within two club‐lengths of the ball. No relief if the line of play is clearly unreasonable. Rule 16.1Stones in Bunkers – Stones in bunkers are moveable obstructions.  

  11. Ties – All ties will be broken consistent with the method described in the Appendix of the USGA rules.
