Cabramatta Golf Club – Supplementary Local Rules

(To be read in conjunction with the JNJG Hard Card and
the Rules of Golf as adopted by the R&A)

Any Local Rules displayed on the clubs’ local rules board or as printed on the club’s scorecard are to be disregarded for this event.

1. PREFERRED LIES (Model Loal Rule E-3)
   1. When a player’s ball lies in a part of the General Area cut to fairway height or less (i.e. fairway), the player may take free relief once by placing the original ball or another ball in and playing from this relief area:
      • Reference point: Spot of the original ball.
      • Size of Relief Area Measured from Reference Point: One Club-Length from the reference point, but within these limits:
      • Limits on Location of Relief AREA:
        • Must not be nearer the hole than the reference point, and
        • Must be in the general area.

In proceeding under this Local Rule, the player must choose a spot to place the ball and use the procedures for replacing a ball under Rule 14.2b(2) and 14.2e.

 

2. CLEANING THE BALL (Model Local Rule E-2)
   1. When a player’s ball lies in a part of the General area NOT cut to fairway height or less (i.e. the rough), the ball may be lifted, cleaned and replaced without penalty. The player must mark the spot of the ball before lifting it (see Rule 14.1) and the ball must be replaced on its original spot (see Rule 14.2).

3. BUNKERS
   1. Bunkers with a white and green stake are deemed to be GUR and in the general area.  The ball may be dropped without penalty at the nearest point of relief outside the bunker in accordance with the standard GUR relief procedure. NOTE: relief is not compulsory.

 

4. OUT OF BOUNDS (Rule 18)
   1. All areas outside the boundary of the property as defined by the perimeter fence
   2. Beyond the inside points, at ground level, of any line of white stakes with black tops
   3. When playing the 11^th hole the 13^th hole is Out Of Bounds, the Out Of Bounds is defined by the Blue Stakes.
   4. The car park, clubhouse and paved brink and concrete surrounds as defined by blue lines.

 

5. PENALTY AREAS (Rule 17)
   1. Where a Penalty Area is marked with both stakes and painted lines, the stake identifies the penalty area while the line defines the penalty area
   2. Red Penalty Areas are defined by red stakes, lines or plates.
   3. Yellow Penalty Areas are defined by yellow stakes, lines or plates.

 

6. PROVISIONAL BALL FOR A BALL IN THE PENALTY AREA (Model Local Rule B-3)
   1. If a player does not know whether their ball is in the penalty area on the right hand-side of the 2^nd fairway, the player may play a provisional ball under Rule 18.3, which is modified in this way:    
      
      In playing the provisional ball, the player may use the stroke-and-distance relief option (see Rule 17.1d(1)), the back-on-the-line relief option (see Rule 17.1d(2)) or, if it is a red penalty area, the lateral relief option (see Rule 17.1d(3)). If a dropping zone is available for this penalty area (see Model Local Rule E-1), the player may also use that relief option.      
      
      Once the player has played a provisional ball under this Local Rule, they may not use any further options under Rule 17.1 in relation to the original ball.    
      
      In deciding when that provisional ball becomes the player's ball in play or if it must or may be abandoned, Rule 18.3c(2) and 18.3c(3) apply except that:
      • When Original Ball Is Found in Penalty Area Within Three-Minute Search Time. The player may choose either to:
        • Continue to play the original ball as it lies in the penalty area, in which case the provisional ball must not be played. All strokes with that provisional ball before it was abandoned (including strokes made and any penalty strokes solely from playing that ball) do not count, or
        • Continue to play the provisional ball in which case the original ball must not be played.
      • When Original Ball Is Not Found Within Three-Minute Search Time or Is Known or Virtually Certain to Be in Penalty Area. The provisional ball becomes the player's ball in play

 

7. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (Rule 16)
   1. All stakes defining GUR, Penalty Areas & Distance Markers
   2. All cart paths and serviced roads.
   3. Landscaped garden areas identified by Purple Stakes.

 

8. ABNORMAL COURSE CONDITION (Rule 16)
   1. Areas encircled by white paint, marked as dots, broken lines, unbroken lines or white pavers, white stakes and / or Ground Under Repair signage
   2. Clearly defined wheel ruts in the General Area.
   3. Areas of bare earth on parts of the General Area cut to fairway height or less, not including divots.
   4. Parts of the General Area cut to fairway height or less that have been re-turfed are ground under repair from which free relief is allowed under Rule 16.1b.
   5. Areas of re-turfing on Putting greens are ground under repair and free relief is allowed under Rule 16.1d.

 

9. ABNORMAL COURSE CONDITION – NO PLAY ZONE (Rule 16.1f)
   1. The Greenkeepers Shed

 

10. EXPOSED TREE ROOTS IN THE FAIRWAY (Model Local Rule F-9)
    1. If a player's ball is in part of the Geneal Area cut to fairway height or less (or within 2 club lengths of the edge of the fairway), the tree roots may be treated as ground under repair. The player may take free relief under Rule 16.1b.  Interference does not exist if the tree roots only interfere with the player's stance. 11. TREES UNDER 2 CLUB LENGTHS IN HEIGHT
    1. Trees under 2 club-lengths in height, are no play zones and are ground under repair (the GUR includes any stakes and/or protective guards. Relief MUST be taken in accordance with 16.1b

 

UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, THE PENALTY FOR BREACH OF A LOCAL RULE IS THE GENERAL PENALTY:
