Liverpool Golf Club – Supplementary Local Rules

(To be read in conjunction with the JNJG Hard Card and
the Rules of Golf as adopted by the R&A)

Any Local Rules displayed on the clubs’ local rules board or as printed on the club’s scorecard are to be disregarded for this event.

  1. PREFERRED LIES (Model Loal Rule E-3)
    1. When a player’s ball lies in a part of the General Area cut to fairway height or less (i.e. fairway), the player may take free relief once by placing the original ball or another ball in and playing from this relief area:
      • Reference point: Spot of the original ball.
      • Size of Relief Area Measured from Reference Point: One Club-Length from the reference point, but within these limits:
      • Limits on Location of Relief AREA:
        • Must not be nearer the hole than the reference point, and
        • Must be in the general area.

In proceeding under this Local Rule, the player must choose a spot to place the ball and use the procedures for replacing a ball under Rule 14.2b(2) and 14.2e.

 

  1. CLEANING THE BALL (Model Local Rule E-2)
    1. When a player’s ball lies in a part of the General area NOT cut to fairway height or less (i.e. the rough), the ball may be lifted, cleaned and replaced without penalty. The player must mark the spot of the ball before lifting it (see Rule 14.1) and the ball must be replaced on its original spot (see Rule 14.2).

  1. BUNKERS
    1. Bunkers with a white and green GUR sign are Ground Under Repair and in the general area.  The ball may be dropped without penalty at the nearest point of relief outside the bunker in accordance with the standard GUR relief procedure. NOTE: relief is not compulsory.

 

  1. OUT OF BOUNDS (Rule 18)
    1. All areas outside the boundary of the property as defined by the perimeter fence
    2. Beyond the inside points, at ground level, of any line of white stakes with black tops

 

  1. PENALTY AREAS (Rule 17)
    1. Where a Penalty Area is marked with both stakes and painted lines, the stake identifies the penalty area while the line defines the penalty area
    2. Red Penalty Areas are defined by red stakes, lines or plates.
    3. Yellow Penalty Areas are defined by yellow stakes, lines or plates.
    4. If a ball comes to rest in the Red Penalty Area at the rear of the 4th, 9th and 15th putting greens OR on the right hand side of the 5th green, after last crossing the margin of the Red Penalty Area between the two blue coloured stakes, as an additional option under Rule 17.1, a ball may be dropped in the nearest marked drop zone under penalty of one stroke.
    5. When the ball last crossed the margin of the red penalty area (marked with red stakes with black tops) on holes 6 and 12, as an extra relief option for one penalty stroke, the player may drop the original ball or another ball on the opposite side of the penalty.
      Reference Point: the estimated point on the opposite side of the penalty area that is no nearer the hole and equidistant to the hole as the point where the ball last crossed the penalty area

 

  1. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (Rule 16)
    1. All stakes defining GUR, Penalty Areas & Distance Markers
    2. All cart paths and serviced roads.
    3. Cabramatta Only: Landscaped garden areas identified by Purple Stakes.
    4. Liverpool Only: All gardens adjacent to teeing grounds.

 

  1. ABNORMAL COURSE CONDITION (Rule 16)
    1. Areas encircled by white paint, marked as dots, broken lines, unbroken lines or white pavers, white stakes and / or Ground Under Repair signage
    2. Clearly defined wheel ruts in the General Area.
    3. Areas of bare earth on parts of the General Area cut to fairway height or less, not including divots.
    4. Parts of the General Area cut to fairway height or less that have been re-turfed are ground under repair from which free relief is allowed under Rule 16.1b.
    5. Areas of re-turfing on Putting greens are ground under repair and free relief is allowed under Rule 16.1d.

 

  1. ABNORMAL COURSE CONDITION – NO PLAY ZONE (Rule 16.1f)
    1. Areas defined by orange stakes and / or lines are no play zones that are to be treated as an abnormal course conditions. Free relief MUST be taken from interference by the no play zone.

 

  1. EXPOSED TREE ROOTS IN THE FAIRWAY (Model Local Rule F-9)
    1. If a player's ball is in part of the Geneal Area cut to fairway height or less (or within 2 club lengths of the edge of the fairway), the tree roots may be treated as ground under repair. The player may take free relief under Rule 16.1b.  Interference does not exist if the tree roots only interfere with the player's stance.   1. TREES UNDER 2 CLUB LENGTHS IN HEIGHT
    1. Trees under 2 club-lengths in height, are no play zones and are ground under repair (the GUR includes any stakes and/or protective guards. Relief MUST be taken in accordance with 16.1b

 

  1. LINE OF PLAY RELIEF FOR PROTECTIVE FENCE (Model Local Rule E-6)
    1. During play of the 1st Hole, if the protective fence behind and beside the 1st green is on a player's line of play the player may take free relief by dropping a ball in and playing it from the dropping zone located adjacent to the left hand side green side bunker. But this relief is only allowed if the ball is in play nearer the hole than where the dropping zone is located (see Rule 14.3).

UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, THE PENALTY FOR BREACH OF A LOCAL RULE IS THE GENERAL PENALTY:
