2024 CCC Individual Match Play

Sign-up Deadline: April 30th (or UNTIL FILLED)

Field Size: 48 Players

Cost: $50

The Match Play Championship field is divided into eight groups using the player's May 1st handicap index. Groups and the Championship Bracket will be prepared based on low-to-high handicaps. (Groups will be made up of similar handicaps.)  Depending on the number of sign-ups, groups will be 4-6 players. Each group will play round-robin matches, and the player with the best record in each group will advance to the single elimination Championship Bracket, with 3rd and 4th place playing off. In a tie to determine the group winner, head-to-head results will be the first tiebreaker, and a playoff will be the second.

Round-robin matches must be completed by June 19th. Matches may be played with another match or event, but all players must agree before teeing off the 1st hole and inform the golf shop.

For this format to be successful, players must complete all round-robin matches. We could run into a situation where a player cannot qualify for the Championship Bracket, and it is crucial the match is still played. Please do not sign up for match play if you have trouble playing all of your group’s matches by June 19th. Your group may require up to 5 matches.

Deadlines are as follows…

Group Matches Complete- June 19th

Round of 8- July 16th

Round of 4- August 7th

Championship Match & 3rd/4th Place Match- August 23rd (Champion awarded at M-M tourney)

Here are a few more rules to know…

* Players will create their scorecards for their match. If you don't know how to find your Course Handicap, please contact the golf shop. Players' handicaps may be adjusted based on the "Cap Patrol" report.

*Tournament Handicaps will be updated daily, and handicaps will be "wheeled" for the day's match. (Example: P1's current HCP= 3 / P2's current HCP=5-> "Wheeled" P1=0 / P2=2)

*After completing your match, a scorecard and a Winner/Loser/Tie must be submitted.

*The golf shop will post your score to GHIN. When scoring, be sure to write a score down for each hole. If a hole is conceded, write down what each player would likely have. If the match is won or lost before the 18th hole, the most a player can take is par plus their handicap on each hole. Example... If you are an 8 handicap, and your match is over, the most you can take on hole number 18 is a Bogey. (Because hole number 18 is the 8th handicap hole.)

* If a playoff is needed to determine the group winner, players will go into a 3-hole playoff. If players are still tied after three holes, the match becomes Sudden Death.

*In a playoff, a scorecard/s will be dotted with "Wheeled" strokes, and dots will fall based on where they fall on the scorecard.
