Terms of Competition
Golf Canada 2023 Rules of Golf, 2023 British Columbia Golf Terms of the Competition and Local Rules will govern all play except as modified by these Terms and Local Rules.
All players are expected to check in at registration twenty minutes prior to their tee time.
All players are expected to arrive at their first tee five minutes prior to their published starting time to receive instructions from the Starter.
In accordance with Rule 5.3, if both partners arrive late to the first tee, but either partner arrives within five minutes of the side’s published starting time, the side is penalized two strokes at the first hole. If both partners arrive outside of five minutes of the starting time, the side is disqualified from the competition
In accordance with Rule 23.4, a side may be represented by either partner for all or any part of a round. An absent competitor may join his partner between holes but not during the play of any hole.
Any player failing to turn in a scorecard or fail to complete the round will not be accepted into next year’s event. If a player is ill or injured, they must sign a medical withdrawal form.
Designated Practice Areas
The Driving Range and the Practice Greens at each golf club are the only designated practice areas.
Between the play of two holes, a player must not make any practice stroke on or near the putting green of the hole last played and must not test the surface of the putting green of the hole last played by rolling a ball
Penalty for breach of this rule is two strokes to the offending partner applied to the next hole or in the case of a breach on the last hole of a stipulated round, the penalty is applied to the last hole.
Second Round
Upon completion of the first round, Gorge Vale GC, except for the designated practice areas is, Out of Bounds to all players until the start of round two.
Penalty for breach of this rule is disqualification of the side.
The second round will be a shotgun start. Starting hole assignments will be announced at the registration table inside the Greenside Lounge at Gorge Vale GC.
Teeing Area
All players in the Open Gross Division shall play from the “Black” tee markers at Olympic View GC and the “Blue” tee markers at Gorge Vale GC.
All players in the Senior Open Gross and Net Amateur Divisions shall play from the “White” tee markers at both golf courses.
Format
The format for play will be “Four-Ball Stroke Play” in accordance with Rule 23.
Players in all Divisions shall just be required to record their individual gross scores on each hole.
Players in the Amateur Net Division shall only record their individual gross scores; the best net score on each hole from their team will be calculated by the scoring computer.
Player’s handicap factors will be frozen for the duration of the tournament as of posting of the draw on Friday, 26 April.
Pace of Play
If a group arrives at a hole that is empty, ie flagstick has been replaced, they are out of position. The group has two holes to get back into position. If the group does not get back into position, they are liable for a one stroke penalty.
Slow play penalties may be appealed to the Committee in writing.
Tie Breaking Procedure
In the event of a tie for first place in either the Open Division or the Senior Open Division, ties will be determined by Hole-by Hole Playoff starting on hole #1.
In the event of a tie in the Amateur Net Division, ties will be broken by matching scorecards following the procedure recommended in the Official Guide to the Rules of Golf 2023, Committee Procedures, Part III, Section 5A(6) .

Decisions
All decisions made by the Committee shall be considered final.
