Please carefully read these rules before teeing off!

 

1. Starting Times:  Tournament is a shotgun start at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 24th, 2024.
2. General Rules:
   1. Teams will be composed of four players randomly selected in an ABCD handicap index format minimizing the total handicap spread across all teams.
   2. All players will play from the Pick & Shovel tees (or Coal Car tees if so elected at sign up and your age plus handicap index equal 75 or more) and the team chooses the best tee shot.
   3. Players will play their own ball from the selected tee shot.  All balls including the ball selected may be placed and played within one club length of the ball’s original position, but not closer to the hole.  The lie conditions may NOT be improved. (e.g. a ball in a bunker, penalty area, or rough, must be played from the bunker, penalty area or rough).
   4. Each player will then play his own ball from that location until the ball is holed.
   5. Tee shots coming to rest on the green must be played from no more than 6" from the original spot, no closer to the hole.
   6.  Each team must use at least three (3) tee shots from each player.
   7. The best three (3) net scores on each hole will be counted.  Only gross scores are to be recorded on your scorecard.  The three (3) best net score will be automatically computed when entered in the Golf Genius mobile app and will be checked following the round.
   8. Handicap allowance will be 80% - as marked on scorecards.
   9. A player may pick up when the team score on a hole cannot be improved.  He should record the score he most likely would have made.  This is for pace of play.
   10. Skins:  There is a team skin game.  A skin is defined as the lowest three (3) total best ball net scores on a hole (no ties, no carry overs).
   11. Closest to the Pin: Two closest to the pin contests will be held. This is an individual contest for all players. The pot is divided equally between two winners.
   12. Pace of Play: Foursomes not finishing within 4 hours 30 minutes or not finishing within 15 minutes of the group in front of them will be assessed a two-stroke penalty per golfer. Each scorecard will have 4 hour 30 minute pace of play shown on the card. 
   13. Electronic scoring mandatory! We ask that you designate one person in each group to update the scores for the entire group in either the USGA Tournament Management or the Golf Genius app. Both live scoring and paper scorecards are MANDATORY. Login into the app using the GGID printed on your scorecard. Scoring is simple and fast for competitors and post round scorers. Failure to utilize the app during the round will result in a two-stroke penalty for each team.

 

Note: If for some reason you do not have four players you still follow the same rules. A blind player will be picked by the system to complete your foursome. One member of each foursome should enter scores on the printed cards and in the mobile scoring app.

123 Best Ball

Please read these rules carefully before teeing off!

 

1. Starting Times:  Tournament is Shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 13th
2. GENERAL RULES

   2. All golfers will tee off from the Pick & Shovel tees or the Coal Car tees (golfers must meet the Rule of 75 requirements and have declared the forward tees during registration).
   3. This is a four-man team event (also known as ABCD 123) in which each golfer plays his own ball tee to green. The following scores will be determined and used by Golf Genius for scoring.  
      1. The low net score is used on holes 1, 4, 7, 10, 13 and 16.
      2. The low 2 net scores are recorded on holes 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, and 17.
      3. The low 3 net scores are recorded on holes 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, and 18.
      4. If you are out of a hole and elect to pick-up, mark your estimated score on the paper scorecard and in the Golf Genius app. For example, if you have a putt left that will not help the team, you may pick it up and either count it as one stroke (if it was close) or two strokes. Be honest! This is encouraged to speed up play!
      5. If for some reason you do not have four golfers, you still follow the same rules. A blind golfer will be picked by Golf Genius to complete your foursome. 
   4. Only gross scores are to be recorded on your paper scorecard and in the Golf Genius app.  The net scores and scores which get used on each hole are determined by Golf Genius automatically.
   5. Teams will be randomly generated by Golf Genius. (A golfers selected from low to high handicap, B golfers from high to low, C golfers from low to high and D golfers from high to low)
   6.  Handicap allowance will be 80% per golfer.  Pops will be shown on the paper scorecard and in the Golf Genius app.
   7. A golfer may pick up when the team score on a hole cannot be improved.  He should record the score he most likely would have made.  This is for pace of play.
   8. Skins:  There is a team skin game.  A skin is defined as the lowest net total score on a hole (no ties, no carry overs).  The winnings are divided between the team.

   10. Pace of Play: Foursomes not finishing within 4 hours 30 minutes or who do not finish within 15 minutes of the group in front of them will be assessed a two-stroke penalty per team.
   11. Electronic scoring mandatory! We ask that you designate one person in each group to update the scores for the entire group in the USGA Tournament Management app. Both live scoring and paper scorecards are MANDATORY. Login using the GGID printed on your scorecard. Scoring is simple and fast for competitors and post round scorers. Failure to utilize the app will result in a two-stroke penalty for the team.

2024 CCMGA Individual Match Play Rules

 

FORMAT:

 

1. The Match Play Championship is an ongoing single-elimination tournament in which contestants play head-to-head during each round.
2. The player with the lowest net score on a given hole wins that hole. The match is won by the player that is leading by a number of holes greater than the number of holes remaining to be played (e.g., 4 up with 3 holes to play – known as winning 4 & 3).
3. The matches must be played at Coal Creek from your default tees: either Pick and Shovel or Coal Car.
4. If the match is even after 18 holes, players must continue, starting at hole #1 (or hole #10, if that is required by the Coal Creek staff), and play until a winner is decided. You must see the golf course staff about getting back on the course to complete the match.

 

HANDICAPS:

 

5. All players receive 100% of their course handicaps.Your index will be set approximately on the first day of the window for each round.  Please use the handicap that Golf Genius provides.
6. The handicap stroke allocations to be used for each match shall be determined as follows:

• The lower handicap player plays at scratch. The higher handicap player receives the difference between the course handicaps of the two players. For example, if player A is a 12 handicap and player B is a 17, player B receives five strokes, corresponding to the five lowest handicap stroke holes on the score card.

 

BRACKETS, GOLF GENIUS, NOTIFICATION:

 

8. The winners of each round shall continue in the tournament.
9. Please download and use the Golf Genius app to enter your hole by hole scores as you play. This will ensure the results get instantly posted, the brackets get updated, the handicaps are correct, maximum net double bogey is applied, etc. It is mandatoy that you use the Golf Genius app for entering scores as you play for this and every CCMGA tournament. Use the GGID listed below and click on your match from the list for each round.

12. It is the responsibility of the players to arrange their own matches, including the scheduling of tee times.
13. Each round must be completed by the dates listed below. Any match that is not completed by the required date, unless prior arrangements have been made with the Tournament Director, will be decided by coin flip.

14. Since we are using Golf Genius, do not post your own score with the GHIN system! However, this makes it imperative that you enter your score in the Golf Genius app.  If for some reason you are unable to do that, send me a photo of your scorecard along with the result of the match.

 

SCORE CARDS:

 

15. Fill in your score card completely! Record each player’s gross score on every hole. If you are not able to use the Golf Genius app and are sending a photo of the card:  circle the winning score for each hole; add up everybody’s gross scores; clearly mark on the card the match play score (for example “Johnson d. Woodhouse, 6 & 5”); sign, attest, and date your card.
16. If you are out of a hole and elect to pick-up, mark your estimated score (the score you would have most likely made if you had completed the hole).  Do not follow it with an “X”, because it confuses Golf Genius. For example, if you have a meaningless putt left or if a putt is conceded, you may pick it up and either count it as one stroke (if it was close) or two strokes. Be honest!  Also, if you don’t play all 18 holes, leave the rest of the holes blank on your card and in Golf Genius.  This is new for 2024!!! The World Handicap System will compute an 18 hole score for you.

2024 CCMGA Team Match Play Rules 

 

FORMAT:  

 

1. The Team Match Play event is an ongoing single-elimination tournament in which two teams play match play (best ball net), head-to-head during each round. 

2. The player with the lowest net score on a given hole wins that hole for his team. The match is won by the team that is leading by a number of holes greater than the number of holes remaining to be played (e.g., 4 up with 3 holes to play – known as winning 4 & 3). 

3. All matches must be played at Coal Creek from your default tees: either Pick and Shovel or Coal Car.

For example, the handicaps of players A, B, C, and D are 6, 8, 13 and 17, respectively.  Player A would play at scratch.  Player B would play as a 2 (getting a stroke on the #1 and #2 handicap holes on the card).  Player C would receive 7 strokes (getting strokes on the #1 through #7 handicap holes).  Player D would receive 11 strokes (on handicap holes #1 through #11).

2-Man Modified Stableford Rules

Please carefully read these rules before teeing off!

 

1. Starting Times: Tee times begin at 8:00 AM on Sunday, April 28th.

2. General Rules:

   1. Teams will be comprised of two golfers. There is no maximum differential requirement for this event.  

   2. Golfers may play from the Pick & Shovel tees or Coal Car tees. Coal Car tees may be played ONLY if your combined age plus handicap index equals 75 or more. You must declare the tee you will be playing when you register. Your playing handicap will be based on your tee choice.

   3. Each golfer plays his own ball. Points are awarded for both gross and net scores based on the point table below.  Each golfer’s points are added to their partners points for the total hole points.  For example, golfer A make a gross birdie on the first hole and does not receive a pop on that hole.  He will receive 2 points for the gross score and 2 points for the net score.  Golfer B makes a gross par on the hole and he does receive a pop.  He will receive 0 points for the gross score and 2 points for the net score.  Added together, the team receives 2 points gross and 4 points net for the hole.  

GROSS & NET:

1. Albatross +8 points

2. Eagle +5 points

3. Birdie +2 points

4. Par 0 points

5. Bogey -1 point

6. Double Bogey or worse -3 points

4. On the first tee, exchange your scorecard with the other team. Record each golfer’s gross score on each hole. Add up both nine-hole scores and eighteen-hole scores for both golfers. You may include your best net score on the card though it is not necessary. Be sure your card is signed and attested before turning in. Golf Genius will take care of the points computations.

5. Handicaps: Each golfer receives 100% of playing handicap based upon his choice of tee. Any golfer not having a handicap, or a trend will play at scratch.

6. Flights: This event will be flighted based on the number of registered teams.

2-Man Total Strokes

2. General Rules:
   1. The format for this round is a team stroke play.  Each player total gross and total net strokes will be counted for gross and net payouts.
   2. Each player plays his own ball and records each stroke made. Both players strokes are counted on each hole. Only gross scores need to be recorded.  Golf Genius will calculate net scores based on tournament/tee settings.
   3. All players will play from the Pick & Shovel tees (or Coal Car tees if and your age plus handicap index equal 75 or more and that was your choice for this year.
   4. Each team will be on a separate scorecard. On the first tee, exchange scorecards with the other team and determine who will keep scores in Golf Genius.  Record the GROSS scores for each golfer on each hole.  At the end of the round, add up both 9-hole scores and the 18-hole score. Check your scores, make sure the card is complete, signed and attested. Scorecards will be used in the event of any discrepancies.  It is not necessary to add up your team score or individual net. 
   5. Flights / Handicaps:  This event will be flighted based on the number of registered teams. Each player receives 100% of playing handicap based on his current index.  Any player not having a handicap, or a trend will play as scratch.
   6. Skins:  There will be skins for each flight. A skin is defined as the best individual gross score on a hole (no ties or carryovers). The pot is divided equally between the total number of skins won in each flight. 
   7. Closest to the Pin: Two closest to the pin contests will be held. This is an individual contest for all players. The pot is divided equally between two winners.
   8. Pace of Play: Foursomes not finishing within 4 hours 30 minutes and not finishing within 15 minutes of the group in front of them will be assessed a two-stroke penalty per golfer. Each scorecard will have 4 hour 30 minute pace of play shown on the card. 
   9. Electronic scoring mandatory! Sr. Club Championship

Please read these rules carefully before teeing off!

 

Welcome to the 2024 Coal Creek Men’s Golf Association Senior Club Championship.  This event is comprised of two divisions; The Championship division for anyone age 50 or older and the Super Senior division for anyone 60 or older.  The format is a two-day aggregate stroke play.  Both divisions will pay out low gross and low net.  The Sr. Club Champion will be the player in the Championship division with the lowest two-day gross stroke total.

 

1. Starting Times: Tee times begin at 7:30 a.m. each day.  They will be a split tee on the first day, Saturday June 24th.  All players will start from Hole #1 on the second day, Sunday June 25th.  Super Seniors will tee off first on Sunday and all tee times will be based on standings within divisions.  The players with the lowest gross scores will tee of last.

   1. This is a stroke play competition.  Each golfer plays his own ball and records each stroke.
   2. All players in the Championship division will play from the Pick & Shovel tees.  All players in the Super Senior division will play from the Coal Car tees.  Playing handicaps will reflect the tee you are playing from.

On the first tee, exchange your scorecard with a competitor in your foursome.  Record your competitors GROSS scores on each hole.  At the end of the round, add up both 9-hole scores and the 18-hole score.  Check your scores, make sure your card is complete and signed by the player keeping your score and attested by you.  Scores on printed scorecards will be considered official and final.  If your scorecard is not received by the conclusion of play for each day, you will be disqualified from the tournament.
   4. Handicaps: Each golfer receives 100% of playing handicap based upon his choice of tee. Any golfer not having a handicap, or a trend will play as a zero.
   5. Flights:  There are two divisions and no flights for this tournament.

2. General Rules:
   1. Each golfer plays his own ball and records each stroke.  Prizes will be awarded for low gross and low net in each flight
   2. Golfers may play from the Pick & Shovel tees, or Coal Car tees. Coal Car tees may be played ONLY if your combined age plus handicap index equals 75 or more. You must declare the tee you will be playing when you register. Your playing handicap will be based on your tee choice.
   3. There will be one scorecard per foursome.  On the first tee, determine which golfer will keep the paper scorecard. Before turning in the scorecard, fill it in completely recording each golfer’s gross hole scores. Add up both nine-hole scores and eighteen-hole scores for all golfers. Be sure the scorecard is signed and attested before turning in. 
   4. Flights/Handicaps:  The number of flights will depend on the number of participants. All golfers receive 100% of their handicap. Any golfer not having a GHIN handicap or a trend will play as a zero. 
   5. Skins:  There will be a separate Skins Game for each flight. A skin is defined as the lowest gross score on a hole (no ties, no carryovers).
   6. Closest to the Pin:  Two closest to the pin contests will be held. The pot ($1 per golfer, taken from the registration fee) will be split between the two winning golfers. This contest includes all flights.  These contests will be opposite the hole for the Sr. Club Championship.
   7. Pace of Play: Foursomes not finishing within 4 hours 30 minutes or not finishing within 15 minutes of the group in front of them will be assessed a two-stroke penalty per golfer. Each scorecard will have 4 hour 30 minute pace of play shown on the card.

REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. Members are responsible for covering the entry fee ($58) for yourself and your partner 
2. Guest must have an established handicap index or they will be playing from scratch
3. When registering please use the “Message Manager Link” to submit  your partner information:
   • Partner Name 
   • Partner Handicap Index 
   • GHIN # or USGA Handicap #
4. If you do not have your partners Handicap information available you will need to have this information submitted prior to registration close on 6/24 at 12:30PM MST.
   • If this information is not received your entry will be removed from the tournament and your payment refunded

      3. #9 – Long Drive (in the fairway) 
      4. #14 – Closest To The Pin 
      5. #16 – Closest To The Pin

MEMBER / MEMBER RULES

Please carefully read these rules before teeing off!

 

1. Starting Times:  Tee times begin at 7:00 a.m. on both days.  Saturday will be a split tee start and Sunday play will be based solely from standings after Saturday’s play.
2. Member/Member Rules:
   1. The format for both rounds is 2-Man Net Best Ball
   2. Entry fee covers prize money, skins, and closest to the pin for both days.
   3. Players shall play from either the Pick & Shovel tees or Coal Car tees (age plus handicap index must be 75 or greater without rounding).  Based on your default tee setting.
   4. Each player plays his own ball.  The team score for a given hole is the best net score (gross score minus any pops marked on the scorecard). If you are out of a hole and elect to pick-up, mark your estimated gross score.  Do NOT put an “X” in the Golf Genius app as doing so will remove the score from your 18-hole total resulting in an artificially low score being recorded.  For example, if you have a meaningless putt remaining, you may pick it up and either count it as one stroke (if it was close) or two strokes.  Be honest!  This is encouraged to speed up play!
   5. On the first tee, exchange your team scorecard with the opposing team.  Record your competitors GROSS scores on each hole.  At the end of the round, add up both 9-hole scores and the 18-hole score.  Check your scores, make sure your card is complete and signed by the player keeping your score and attested by you.  Scores on printed scorecards will be considered official and final.  If your scorecard is not received by the conclusion of play for each day, you will be disqualified from the tournament.
   6. Handicaps:  Because of the high stakes of the event, handicaps are the golfer’s low index over the last 12 months.  Each player receives 85% of his adjusted playing handicap. We are no longer using the 8 stroke differential rule. 
   7. Flights:  This event does not include flights.
   8. Skins:  There will be skins pot each day.  A skin is defined as the best net score on a hole (no ties or carryovers). The pot is divided equally between the total number of skins won. 
   9. Closest to the pin: Two closest to the pin contests will be held each day. This is an individual contest. The pot is divided equally between the winners.

3. Calcutta: The Calcutta will be held on Friday evening, July 19th. Your team may purchase a 50% share from the member who was the successful bidder for your team. Please advise us prior to teeing-off on Saturday if you wish to buy back your share.  All payouts will be made by the member who “owns” your team and payment of your share will be made directly to said “owner” before play begins on Saturday.

Saturday August 3rd  Split Tees

Sunday August 1st Tee times from 1st hole

 

1. Starting Times:  Tee times will begin at 8:00 a.m. on both days from both Holes #1 and #10 on Saturday

    and  from Hole #1 on Sunday.
2. General Rules:
   1. This is a 2-Man team event with four different 9-hole formats: Scramble, Best Ball (Saturday), Chapman 
      and Alternate Shot (Sunday).  You must play the correct format on the designated holes.
   2. Golfers may play from the Pick & Shovel tees or Coal Car tees. Coal Car tees   

       may be played ONLY if your combined age plus handicap index equals 75 or

       more. Your tee choice is based on what you chose when registering for the league

       Your playing handicap will be based on your tee choice.
   3. On the first tee, exchange your scorecard with the other team. Record each

       golfer’s gross score on each hole. Add up both nine-hole scores and eighteen-hole

       scores for both golfers. You may include your team scores on the card though it is

       not necessary. Be sure your card is signed and attested before turning in. 
       Golf Genius will take care of the team computations.
   4. Saturday Formats:
      1. Scramble Rules – Holes #1 through #9, Front nine, are to be played as a 2-Man

          Scramble as follows:
      2. Both players tee off.  Select the best ball and both players hit their second shot

          from there. Both balls may be placed within one club length (one putter head

          length on the green), no nearer the hole.  
         However, the balls must be played from the same type of lie as the chosen ball

         (rough, bunker, fairway, hazard, etc.).
      3. Continue as above, selecting the best ball each time and playing both shots from

          there until the ball is holed.  Record the gross score in the scoring app and on

          the score card.
      4. You must use at least two (2) tee-shots from each player.
      5. Best Ball Rules – Holes #10 through #18, Back nine, are to be played under the

          best-ball net format as follows:
      6. Both players play their own ball and record their individual gross score for each

          hole in the scoring app and on score cards. The best net score will be calculated

          by Golf Genius. Note:  if you are out of a hole and elect to pick-up, mark the

          score you likely would have taken on the hole.  Do NOT put an “X” next for the

          score in Golf Genius or it will be removed from your total and an inaccurate final

          score recorded with GHIN.
   5. Sunday Formats:
      1. Chapman Rules – Holes #1 through #9, Front nine, are to be played under the

          2-Man Chapman format. On each hole, play is as follows:
      2. Both players tee off.  Swap balls for the next shot - player A hits player B's ball

          and vice-versa. After both players have taken their second shots, choose one of

          the balls with which to continue and take the other ball out of play. If player A’s

          ball is chosen, player B hits the next shot.  Continue to play alternate shot until

          the ball is holed.  Record the gross score in the scoring app and on

          the scorecard.
      3. Note: penalty strokes do not change the order of play at any time. Add the

          appropriate stroke(s) and continue in the same fashion as described above.  
      4. Alternate Shot Rules – Holes #10 through #18, Back nine, are to be played

          under the alternate shot format as follows:
      5. Select a player to tee off on hole #1.  The other player on the team then plays

          the second shot. The players keep alternating until the ball is holed.  On the next

          tee, the player who did not hole out on the preceding hole, tees off.
      6. Note: penalty shots do not change the order of play.  Add the appropriate

          stroke(s) and continue in the same fashion as described above.
   6. Flights: The tournament will be flighted, and the number of flights will be

       determined based on the number of teams signed up.
   7. Handicaps:
      1. Best Ball:  There is no 8 stroke handicap differential limit for this tournament.

          Handicaps are multiplied by 90%, divided by two (since 9 holes), and rounded to

          the nearest integer.
      2. Scramble:  Team handicap is low handicap multiplied by 35% plus high handicap

          multiplied by 15%, divided by two (since 9 holes), and rounded to the nearest

          integer.
      3. Chapman:  Team handicap is low handicap multiplied by 60% plus high

          handicap multiplied by 40%, divided by two (since 9 holes), and rounded to the

          nearest integer.
      4. Alternate Shot:  Team handicap is average of both handicaps, divided by two

         (since 9 holes), and rounded to the nearest integer.
   8. Team Skins: There will be a separate Skins Game each day. Skins are based on

        the team score for a hole (net for best ball, and gross for the other three formats).

        The pot is divided between the skin winners.
