Specialty Events
ABCD Scramble (Closing Event) – This is the last event of the year. There will be four-man teams assigned via blind draw in the ABCD format. The scramble format requires each player to hit a drive. The team then picks the best drive, and all players then play from that spot, continuing to play the team's best shot in this format to finish each hole. Teams can follow the standard scramble rules:
-
Putts need to be placed within 3 inches of the marked spot (no closer to the hole). The first ball to go in the hole is counted for the team score.
-
You may lift, clean and place your ball within one club length on the selected shot; however, you may not move your ball: 1) out of a hazard (including bunkers), 2) out of the rough, 3) from the fairway or rough to the apron or 3) from the apron to the green.
Each player is required to hit two drives at minimum. Prizes are awarded for both Gross & Net Teams in each 4 team categories.
Note: Under USGA Rule 2.1a/1 you must NOT submit scores for this tournament type because you have not played your own ball.
Two Man Best Ball (Opening Event) – Two players comprise each team. Each player, Player A & Player B, play his own ball throughout the entire tournament. This is a stroke play event with 100% handicap. Team score is the best (lowest) individual net score on each hole for the group. Net strokes "fall" according to hole rankings with full handicap allowance (100%).
Strokes can be marked on a scorecard by the team captain prior to tee-off, however with digital scoring the system accounts for the allotted strokes. Teams can play either blue or white tees and submit scores accordingly. You must declare your tee preference prior to playing this round. If you are an individual looking for a partner, please let us know well in advance and we’ll try to partner individuals looking for a game.
Best 15 out of 18 holes. (Net) - This is an individual stroke play event and 100% full handicap. The event is exactly as it sounds, Golf Genius will take the best 15 out of 18 holes to compute your score on a net basis against the field. Although only 15 holes will be used to determine a winner, we will submit the full 18 hole scores to GHIN.
3 Club Tournament (Net) – This is an individual stroke play event and 100% full handicap. Individuals must play with only three declared clubs at the beginning of the round. Please ensure anyone attesting the round knows which three clubs you are using and inform someone before the round for verification. If you decide to choose your putter it counts as one of your three clubs, so you can choose two other clubs for play.
Unfortunately, if one of the three clubs break during the round, according to the rules of golf you must play with your remaining two clubs only, unless you comply with the USGA rules for replaceing a damaged club. Your score is the best (lowest) individual net score on each hole. Individuals can play either blue or white tees and submit scores for each respective tee. You must specify which tees you are playing before the round.
Note: Under USGA Rule 2.1a/1 you must NOT submit scores for this tournament type because this format restricts the number or type of golf clubs you can use.
Two Man Odd/Even (Net) – This is a two-man event which is 100% full handicap. For the White Tee Event - Player A or the person with the lower handicap will score the Odd holes. Player B is the higher handicap partner will score the even holes.
We have reversed it for the longer Blue Tee Event where the lower handicap (Player A) plays the Even and the higher handicap (Player B) plays the odds. The team will record the score (all tracking done through Golf Genius) of the individual responsible for each hole.
Two Man Trifecta (Net) – This is a two-man 6-hole scramble, a 6-hole alternative shot & 6-hole best ball event.
For hole 1-6, it is best ball format, so each player plays his own ball throughout these first few holes. The score for these holes is the best (lowest) individual net score on each hole.
For hole 7-12, it is an alternate shot format, so Players A and B continue to partner with each other in this format. You should decide among yourselves who tees off first on the first hole. If Player A hits the opening tee ball, then Player B hits the second shot. The third stroke is played by Player A, then Player B hits the fourth. You must alternate hitting shots until the ball is in the hole. The team score on these holes is the best gross score on the hole.
In this format the handicap is 50% of the sum of the handicaps. As an example, If Player A has a course handicap of 5 and Player B has a course handicap of 12. The team's score combined course handicap is 17. The team will therefore receive 9 strokes (17 x 50% = 8.5, rounded to 9)
For hole 13-18, it is a scramble, so each player, Player A and Player B hit a drive and then continue to play the best shot in that format to finish the hole. The team score on these holes is the best gross score on the hole.
A minimum of two drives must be used by one of the participants and handicap will be based on a 35% (low) + 15% (high) allocation. As an example, If Player A has a course handicap of 5 and Player B has a course handicap of 12. The team will receive 4 strokes (5 x 35% + 12 x 15% = 3.55, rounded to 4)
Note: Under USGA Rule 2.1a/1 you must NOT submit scores for this tournament type because you have not played your own ball.
