Diane Peden Herndon set foot on Argyle Country Club in 1957 when her father, Harry, joined the Club. She played her first round at Argyle on her 10th birthday in 1964. She fell in love with the game a few years later when she discovered boys on the course and has remained an Argyle member to this day.
Diane joined the WDCGA in 1973 after turning 18 the prior fall. She served on the Maryland State Golf Association Women’s Division (MSGA-WD) for 10 years, 2 of which as President. She served on the WDCGA Board for 8 years, 2 of which as President. She also served on the Maryland State Golf Association Board for 10 years, and as President from 2021 to 2022.
In November 2021, Diane was presented the WDCGA Sharon Briggs Distinguished Service Award. Two days after receiving such an honor, she was presented the Distinguished Service Award by the MSGA-WD. The sponsorship of the Class C Diane Herndon Cup is a wonderful gift given to her by her wonderful, talented daughter Stefanie Herndon Kimmel.
