Ocean Shores – Additional Local Rules


(To be read in conjunction with the JNJG & GNSW Local Rules Hard Card and the Rules of Golf as adopted by the R&A)

 

1. OUT OF BOUNDS (Rule 18) • Ground beyond white stakes with black tops or OOB signs. • Where OOB is marked on holes bounded by water, the water’s edge defines OOB.

 

2. PENALTY AREAS (Rule 17) • All penalty areas are red penalty areas. • Margins of penalty areas are marked lines around water’s edge and red stakes.

 

3. ABNORMAL COURSE CONDITIONS (Rule 16) • All areas defined by white stakes and/or lines. • Shallow grass dish drains on closely mown areas. • Clearly defined Wheel ruts made by course maintenance machinery, motor vehicles or motorised golf carts in the General Area. • Areas in bunkers where sand has been removed by movement of water resulting in deep furrows through the sand. • Areas of bare earth on fairways, not including divots.

 

4. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (Rule 16.1) • All stakes and flora ID posts (not including flora). • All Hoops, buggy or cart directional signs, ropes, and stakes supporting ropes.

 

5. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS CLOSE TO PUTTING GREENS – LINE OF PLAY INTERFERENCE (Rule 16.1a) • In addition to the types of interference described in Rule 16.1a, interference also exists if an immovable obstruction is: on the player’s line of play and is within two club lengths of the putting green and is within to club lengths of the ball. (Exception – There is no relief under this Local Rule if the player chooses a line of play that is clearly unreasonable.)

 

6. STAKED TREES (Rule 16.1f) • Staked trees and staked shrubs are no play zones and are ground under repair (the GUR includes the stake and any protective guarding)

 

7. PROVISIONAL BALL – 2 ND HOLE (R&A Model Local Rule 8-B3) If a player does not know whether his or her ball is in the Red Penalty Area to the right of the 2nd fairway, the player may play a provisional ball under Rule 18.3, which is modified in this way: In playing a provisional ball, the player may use any of the 3 relief options set out in Rule 17.1d Once the player has played a provisional ball under this rule, he or she may not use any further options under rule 17.1 in relation to the original ball. In deciding when that provisional ball becomes the players ball in play, or if it must or may be abandoned Rule 18.3c(2) and 18.3c(3) apply except that: If the original ball is found in the Penalty Area within the 3 minute search time. The player may choose either to: − Continue to play the original ball as it lies in the Penalty Area in which case the provisional ball must not be played. − Continue to play the provisional ball – the original ball must not be played. When the original ball is not found within the 3 minute search time or is known or virtually certain to be in the Penalty Area: The provisional ball becomes the player’s ball in play.

 

 

Ocean Shores Country Club – Tournament Information
 

  1. Scorecard Return and Tournament Office
    1. A player’s scorecard is deemed officially returned to the Tournament Committee when the player has left the tournament office. Once the player has left the tournament office, no changes may be made to the scorecard.
    2. Players MUST move straight from the 18th green to the tournament office to complete and sign their scorecards.

    2. In the case of a player being unable to gain assistance from one of the numbers above, the player may proceed in accordance with the procedure outlined in Rule 20.1c(3) of the Rules of Golf and nominate to play a second ball. The player must report the facts of the situation to the Committee before returning the scorecard, even if the player scores the same with both balls.
       
  3. Maximum Score Format of Play (Rules of Golf Rule 21.2)
    1. Maximum Score is a form of stroke play where a player’s score for a hole is capped a maximum number of strokes set by the committee. At JNJG Junior Masters Events, the maximum score for any hole is 10 strokes.
       
  4. Parents, Spectators and Bag Pusher Guidelines
    1. There are no caddies or bag pushers allowed at any JNJG Tour Event.
       
  5. Course Information
    1. Tee Markers
      1. White JNJG Tee Markers – all BOYS divisions
      2. Red JNJG Tee Markers – all GIRLS divisions
         
    2. Distance Markers
      1. 100m, 150m and 200m to the centre of the green

 

Make sure you keep up with the group in front, carry and use a sand bucket to replace divots, and fix all pitch marks on the greens. Let’s leave the course in the same condition as when we arrived!!
