QUALIFYING MEMORANDUM TO PLAYERS

QUALIFYING PORTAL: Follow the link for pairings, live scoring, results and player information. You can also access the qualifying portal by using the USGA Tournament Management app on your phone. To access the page, login using the GGID: USAMPULLMAN2018
FORMAT/QUALIFYING PLACES: Stroke play competition conducted over 36 holes. The field of 57 contestants will compete for two qualifying places and two alternate positions into the U.S. Amateur Championship to be played at Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, Calif. on August 13-19, 2018.
REGISTRATION: Players do not need to register upon arrive at the golf course. Players are to report to their assigned starting tees, ready to play, 8 minutes before their starting times.
STARTING TIMES: Available on the Washington State Golf Association’s website, thewsga.org or HERE. Online scoring will also be available on the website during the qualifier. Round one tee times will be from 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. off holes #1 and #10. Round two tee times will be from 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. off of holes #1 and #10.
PLAYOFF: In the event of a tie for the last qualifying places, there will be a hole-by-hole playoff to determine the final qualifiers and the 1st and 2nd alternate if necessary. All announcements regarding the play-off will be made at the public scoreboard upon completion of the qualifying round.
FOOTWEAR: Shoes with traditionally-designed spikes (regardless of composition, i.e., ceramic, plastic, etc.) or spikes, regardless of design, comprised either entirely or partially of metal (if such metal may come in contact with the course) are prohibited during the stipulated round. Penalty for breach of this condition: DISQUALIFICATION.
GOLF BALLS/DRIVERS: The “One Ball Rule” will be in effect. Please check the USGA website, www.usga.org, for a list of approved golf balls and drivers.
GROOVES: The players clubs must conform to the grooves and punch mark specifications in The Rules of Golf that are effective from January 1, 2010 (see Decision 4-1/1).
DMDS: In Sectional qualifying and in the Championship proper, a player may obtain distance information by use of a distance-measuring device. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., elevation changes, wind speed, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3. PACE OF PLAY: It is a condition that player must play without undue delay and in accordance with guidelines established by committee. Guidelines will be distributed by email.
PRACTICE ROUND AVAILABILITY: Players may play one hosted practice round. Contestants must call the Palouse Ridge golf shop at (509) 335-4342 to make arrangements. All practice round times are at the discretion of the golf shop staff.
PRACTICE FACILITIES/RANGE BALLS: Range balls will be hosted on the driving range beginning at 6:30 a.m.
CADDIES: Host club caddies will not be available. Players are allowed to have a caddie.
CARTS: Players must not ride on any form of transportation during a stipulated round unless authorized by the Committee. Spectator carts are not permitted.
GOLF SHOP: Open at 6:30 a.m.
CODE OF CONDUCT: As set forth in the USGA application, the code of conduct applies to all USGA Qualifying and Championships.
PERSONAL APPEARANCE: Contestants and caddies must be neat in appearance. Bermuda length shorts may be worn. Short shorts, tee shirts, tank tops and blue jeans are prohibited. Shirts must have collars.
FOOD SERVICE: Banyans Restaurant will open at 6:30 a.m. for full breakfast service. Grab and go breakfast sandwiches will also be available. A full lunch menu will be available between rounds as well and quick made sandwiches.
