ANDOVER, KS: University of Oklahoma player Ryder Cowan, of Edmond, OK, followed his 5-under-par first round with a four-under-par second round to sit at nine-under-par total for the tournament. Alongside Cowan sits the first-round leader, Harry Crockett (of Surrey, England and playing for the University of Nebraska), whose impressive first round of 63 was followed up by a one-under-par round of 70. Playing in the afternoon, Cooper Schultz, of Kansas State University and Wichita, KS, joined the pair at nine-under-par with a five-under-par 66.

 

Six players are ties at eight-under-par for 36 holes: Kristoffer Kuvaas (65-69), Cameron Huss (64-70), Carson Kim (68-66), Jay Mendall (68-66), Charles DeLong (69-65), and Joseph Lloyd (65-69). Ryan Eshleman (65-70) and Andrew Goodman (69-66) are seven under for the tournament, certainly within striking distance, with two rounds left to play at Flint Hills National Golf Club.

 

Two Mid-Amateur players set the tone in the morning wave, with Parker Edens firing a six-under-par 65, matching the day's low score is at six-under-par total for the tournament. Edens' card included four birdies on the front nine and four on the back with two bogeys. The 2021 TMGA Amateur Championship Runner-Up Derek Busby made one eagle, six birdies, and three bogeys on his way to a five-under-par 66 with a two-day total of minus one to make the cut on the number.

 

After the second round, the field was cut to the low 54 players and ties. The cut was 57 players at one-under-par at 141 total. The final rounds will be played tomorrow and Friday, both commencing at 8:00 am off of holes #1 and #10.
