Saturday Oct 12 on the Island tee-times 12:18, 12:27, 12:36
Saturday Oct 19 course and times TBD
Saturday Play
If you can’t play on Tuesday, Saturday Play is a great way to still get in a course credit.
In order to play "legal" so that your score counts towards Year End awards and to receive course credit, you did not participate in the previous Tuesday playday (which includes starting but then withdrawing). There will need to be two "legal" players in a division (18 or 9) to count as a KWGA official Saturday Playday. Otherwise, you can play just for fun.
If you are interested in playing on Oct 5 or Oct 12 email Joan Rendl at JRendl3@comcast.net. (filling in for Kakie) Need your email by midnight Thursday to allow Chris time to print the Golf Genius scorecards and record nonlegal players on the tee time sheet.
Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to play or you will need to invoke the 2 stroke penalty rule for late arrivals.

Article from GolfInfoGuide.com
What are the mental challenges of playing in a golf tournament?
Golf is a sport that demands not only physical skills but also strong mental fortitude. In a golf tournament, the mental challenges can significantly impact a player's performance and ability to achieve their goals. Let's explore some of these challenges:
• Pressure and Nerves: The pressure to perform well in a golf tournament can be immense. Nervousness and anxiety can affect a player's focus and execution of shots. It is important for golfers to find strategies to manage their nerves and stay composed under pressure.
• Concentration: Maintaining concentration throughout an entire round of golf can be challenging. Distractions from the surroundings, thoughts about the score, or even a bad shot can derail a golfer's focus. Developing the ability to stay in the present moment is crucial for consistent performance.
• Course Management: Golf tournaments often feature different courses with various challenges and hazards. Making the right decisions on club selection, shot placement, and managing risks is a mental challenge that requires strategic thinking and the ability to adapt to different course conditions.
• Patience: Golf tournaments can be long and grueling, spanning several days. Maintaining patience and not getting frustrated by a bad hole or a slow pace of play is vital. It is essential to stay positive and focus on the next shot rather than dwelling on past mistakes.
• Self-Belief and Confidence: Believing in one's abilities and having confidence in their game is essential in golf. Doubts and negative self-talk can hinder performance. Developing a strong mental attitude and building self-belief can help golfers stay resilient in the face of challenges.
• Dealing with Expectations: Golfers often face expectations from themselves, their teammates, coaches, or even spectators. These expectations can add extra pressure to perform well. Managing and handling these expectations effectively is crucial for mental well-being and performance.
• Frustration and Emotional Control: Golf can be a frustrating game, and controlling emotions is a significant mental challenge. Keeping emotions in check, whether it is anger, disappointment, or excitement, is important for making rational decisions and executing shots effectively.
• Maintaining a Positive Mindset: In a golf tournament, it is important to maintain a positive mindset, regardless of the situation. Being able to bounce back from setbacks, visualizing successful shots, and focusing on the process rather than the outcome are essential mental skills for success.
Overall, golf tournaments require golfers to overcome numerous mental challenges. Developing mental strength and adopting effective mental strategies can improve a player's performance and help them navigate the ups and downs of competitive golf.
By acknowledging and addressing these mental challenges, golfers can pave the way for consistent play, improved decision-making, and enhanced enjoyment of the game.
It looks like we will have nice weather next week.
Stay Hydrated and eat healthy snacks throughout the tournament!
Good Luck to everyone!
