Third Quarter General Meeting was held Aug 27,2024.
According to our By-Laws, a quorum for a General Meeting is 10%. We needed 16 and we had 21. Having it at 2pm was not the most convenient so a Big Thank you and a Big Appreciation to everyone that attended! Following are a few announcements made at the meeting.
New Members
Since our last General Meeting held April 16 we have two new 18-Hole members:
Joo Yoo joined in May and Lisa Vaught in August.
Marsh course credit requirement is deleted
Due to the Marsh course closing permanently, Marsh course credit is no longer required to be eligible for Year End Awards. So only 6 course credits will be needed this year.
KWGA18: 2 each on Island, Lake, Forest
KWGA9: 1 each on Island front and back, Lake front and back, Forest front and back.
Sad news
Gail Ireland lost her husband of 64 years, Dick, on Fri 8/23 and Lynn Gardella lost her husband of 28 years, Joe, on Sat 8/24. Both were in hospice for a short time and both went peacefully. Our hearts are with you.
Nominating Committee
Nominating Committee (NC) for the 2024 Board will be forming soon. According to our By-Laws the NC shall be comprised of a Chairman, and a representative from each flight, which shall include the current KWGA President and the Fourth Vice-President (9-Hole Chair). No other board member shall serve on the NC.
The NC will determine the slate so it can be posted to the membership Oct 15, 2024 which is 2 weeks in advance of our Oct 29, 2024 General Meeting that we will vote. The new Board will be installed at the Year End Brunch which will be held on Dec 10, 2024.
We have had some members step up willing to be on the Board but we will need others, so if you are interested in being on the NC or on the Board or a committee please reply to this email or let a Board member know. Otherwise, we may be reaching out to you. Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization, and even though it does entail some time, it is a very rewarding experience!

USGA Rule 7.3 Lifting Ball to Identify It
If a ball might be a player’s ball but cannot be identified as it lies:
The player may lift the ball to identify it (including by rotating it), but:
The spot of the ball must first be marked, and the ball must not be cleaned more than needed to identify it (except on the putting green) (see Rule 14.1).
If the lifted ball is the player’s ball or another player’s ball, it must be replaced on its original spot (see Rule 14.2).
If the player lifts their ball under this Rule when not reasonably necessary to identify it (except on the putting green where the player may lift under Rule 13.1b), fails to mark the spot of the ball before lifting it or cleans it when not allowed, the player gets one penalty stroke.
Penalty for Playing Ball from a Wrong Place in Breach of Rule 7.3: General Penalty under Rule 14.7a.
Pace of Play
Pace of Play is especially important on our league days now that we are sharing the course with other leagues or with the general membership.
Save time by playing “Ready” Golf!
Save time by playing a provisional ball if you think your original ball might be lost or out of bounds. Always have extra balls in your pocket. Do not look for a lost ball more than the allotted 3 minutes. Your provisional ball should be distinguishable from your original ball.
Save time by marking your balls with an identifying mark so it is easier to identify it as your ball and less likely you might play the wrong ball.
