What’s the deal with Island Hole 6 ???

Hole 6 is a par 5, but due to damage and awaiting sod replacement, COK has signs posted that it is to be played as a par 3 until the repair is made.

  • So for handicap (GHIN) purposes, your score was changed to a net to par score.
  • That hole will be removed from end of the year ringer determination.
  • The actual score you had on the hole was how the game winners were determined.

Using me as an example:

Played as a par 3, I had a 4 on the hole and my gross score for the day was 111.  The 111 was used to figure out my playday standing for the game. I have 2 pops on that hole so my net to par score for that hole was adjusted to a 7 and my posted GHIN score was a 114.

Tee-Time Starts continue in June and possibly into July

TEE-TIME STARTS ARE TEMPORARY.

THE GOAL IS TO GET BACK TO SHOTGUN STARTS.

Tee-times will start at 08:00AM and go every 8 minutes.

So sign up in Golf Genius or respond to Chris’ email that you are playing. Chris will do the pairings and on Monday he will send a tee sheet so you know what time your tee-time will be on Tuesday.

Check-in 30 minutes prior to your tee-time. Please be on time! There is a 2-stroke penalty to a player that arrives after their check-in time.

AT END OF PLAY - always check that your scorecard and Golf Genius match!

Why are we doing tee-time starts?

The COK Staff has been doing an amazing job to get our courses open as soon as possible after the flood event in early May. On that day they reacted quickly to the flash rain and saved all of our carts from being damaged and lost.

Then they started accessing the course damage and conducting clean up and repairs as needed to open the Lake and Forest quickly. Island next and lastly Marsh opened June 7. They also experienced delays with another heavy rain event just a couple weeks after.

Still at this time, all the bunkers need repair of varying degrees. That work is starting on the Island and then will move to the Lake, etc. Bunkers are played as BUNKER UNDER REPAIR until fixed.  This project is a big undertaking. Some bunkers need the liner repaired. Some only need sand replacement. Much of the sand is being reused, but has to be sifted to eliminate sand contaminated with silt. For the new sand, we are competing with several other clubs in our area who also experienced bunker washouts. Hence sand in high demand, making it very difficult to predict a project completion date.

COK has also had to repair damages to the main range, electrical shortage in the cart barn, loss of the range ball washing machine, rest room damage and various other issues.

PLEASE BE PATIENT!

PLEASE ADMIRE THE BEAUTY OF OUR COURSES!

AND THANK THE STAFF MEMBERS FOR THE AMAZING JOB THEY ARE DOING IN COPING WITH CONDITIONS OUT OF THEIR CONTROL. GIVE THEM A SMILE AND LET THEM KNOW WE APPRECIATE THEIR EFFORTS IN SUPPORTING AND MAINTAINING THIS GREAT CLUB!
