City Championship Series Player Conduct Policy

THE CITY OF CHARLESTON MUNICIPAL GOLF COURSE expects all City Championship competitors to adhere to all Rules set forth in the USGA Rules of Golf, specifically as described in Rule 1:  ‘The Game, Player Conduct, and the Rules’

Additionally, the Municipal Golf Course requires all players to adhere to the City Championship Series Player Conduct Policy as described below:

The following actions may constitute a violation of the City Championship Series Player Conduct Policy:

  • Intentional damage of the golf course or golf course property
  • Unnecessary club throwing
  • Offensive, aggressive, or disturbing language
  • Public criticism of the golf course and/or verbal abuse of golf course staff, officials, volunteers, fellow competitors or spectators
  • Potential endangerment to others – any threatening language or physical threats made to anyone on golf course property
  • Deliberate disregard to dangerous weather warnings or failure to stop play when notified to do so by lightning alarm or tournament committee
  • ‘No Showing’ for any round without properly notifying tournament committee or golf course staff
  • Failure to return scorecard to Tournament Committee or scoring table immediately following completion of round, or failure to notify committee or staff of intention to withdraw from event for justified reason
  • Deliberate intent to post incorrect scores for any hole or round of tournament
  • Deliberate failure to report rules violations on yourself or other competitors

PLAYER CONDUCT VIOLATIONS – Incidents of Serious Misconduct deemed detrimental to the image of the City Championship Series, the Municipal Golf Course, the City of Charleston, or the spirit of the game may result in disqualification and suspension from the Municipal Golf Course or future events.  Any Code of Conduct violation is otherwise subject to the following penalties for any given tournament round:

  • First Offense:  Warning
  • Second Offense:  General Penalty
  • Third Offense (or any serious misconduct):  Disqualification

*All player conduct violations will be further reviewed by the tournament committee to determine the need or duration of suspension for future events or facility access.
