BBO Girls Championship - Local Rules at Badgemore Park GC

 

 

1.   OUT OF BOUNDS

A ball is out of bounds if it lies:

a)   Beyond a boundary fence or white stakes defining the edge of the course.

b)   Beyond internal white stakes when playing the 1st, 3rd, 9th, 15th, 16th and 18th holes. When playing holes other than these, out of bounds stakes are deemed immovable obstructions and relief may be taken under Rule 16-1.

c)   In a car park.

d)   The out of bounds line is determined by reference to the nearest inside points of the fence posts or white stakes at ground level.

2.   IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTION (Rule 16-1)

a)   All fixed signage, benches, protective low fencing, bell posts, waste bins and ball washers.

b)   Roads and Paths: A ball coming to rest on a road or path may be lifted and dropped without penalty within one club-length of and not nearer the hole, than the nearest point of relief.

c)   Irrigation System: All hydrants, manhole covers and popup sprinkler heads are immovable obstructions and relief from interference may be obtained under Rule 16-1. In addition, relief may be taken from intervention by fixed sprinkler heads on or within two club-lengths of the putting green when the ball lies within two club-lengths of the sprinkler head.

d)   Protection of Young Trees: Identified by a Stake: If such a tree interferes with a player’s stance or area of intended swing, the ball must be lifted and dropped in accordance with Rule 16-1 (Immovable Obstructions).

3.   ABNORMAL GROUND CONDITIONS  (Rule 16.1)

Relief must be taken:

Ground Under Repair: Areas defined by a white line and/or a GUR sign are ground under repair, from which play is prohibited. If a player’s ball lies in the area, or if the area interferes with the player’s stance, the player must take relief under Rule 16-1.
Tractor Marks: A tractor rut is to be regarded as “Ground Under Repair”.

4.   ALTERNATIVE TO STROKE & DISTANCE FOR LOST BALL OR BALL OUT OF BOUNDS

For non-qualifying competitions only – When a player’s ball has not been found or is known or virtually certain to be out of bounds, the player may proceed as follows rather than proceeding under stroke & distance – For two penalty strokes the player may take relief by dropping the original ball or another ball in the relief area Rule 14.3

5.   STONES IN BUNKERS
Stones in bunkers are loose impediments and relief is available under Rule 15.1  If the ball moves as a result of moving the stone, the player gets a one stroke penalty and the ball must be replaced.

6.   PONDS (Rule 17)
Penalty areas are marked by yellow and red posts.

7.   PRIORITY
Players on the 9th tee have priority over players on the 7th tee

8.   DISTANCE-MEASURING DEVICES (Rule 4.3) 

The use of distance-measuring devices for the purpose of measuring distance only is permitted, strictly in accordance with Rule 4.3

 

PENALTY FOR BREACH OF LOCAL RULE:
Match Play – Loss of hole;
Stroke Play – Two Strokes.

DISTANCE MARKERS
Sprinkler heads measure distances to the front of the green in yards.
Posts and fairway yardage markers measure distances to the centre of the green in yards.

FLAG POSITIONS ON GREENS:
White  =  Back Third
Yellow  =  Middle Third
Red  =  Front Third
