Format:
Two 18-hole stipulated rounds of individual stroke play. Play will be from the USGA Tee Markers wherever they are situated (see Yardages). The low THREE individuals will advance to the U.S. Amateur Championship at Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, California on August 13-19, 2018. Any play-offs will take place immediately after the conclusion of play for the last spot and two alternate positions.
Competition Schedule:
Starting times will start at 7:30am off of Hole #1 and Hole #10. See the Pairings and Starting Times tab for starting times. Please be at your assigned tee at least 10 minutes prior to your starting time.
Practice Round Information:
Players should call the Bayonet Golf Course Golf Shop at 831-899-7271 or book through GolfNow for the applicable rate on a space available basis. NCGA Member rates are $95 weekdays, $115 weekends. Cart included.
Cart Information:
Automotive transportation is prohibited. Players and caddies must walk. Pull-carts are permitted. SPECTATOR CARTS ARE PROHIBITED.
Caddies:
Caddies are permitted, however, they are not available from Bayonet/Black Horse Golf Course.
Practice Balls:
Provided for players prior to and following the competition rounds at no cost. The practice range will open at 6:30am. The practice putting and chipping greens will open at sunrise.
Payment Information:
Cash and Credit Cards are the methods of payment accepted for all purchases (golf shop and food and beverage) at Bayonet/Black Horse Golf Course.
Food and Beverage Information:
The restaurant will be open at 6:30am. Food will be available off the regular menu until 3:00pm, after which only the bar will be available for drinks and snacks.
Withdrawals:
Entrant who wishes to withdraw from Qualifying must notify the USGA (908-326-1950 or via e-mail at champs@usga.org) and the NCGA prior to their scheduled qualifying round. Failure to do so may result in disqualification from future USGA competitions. Players that fail to notify the NCGA prior to their starting time will be listed as No Shows.
Notify the NCGA at 831-625-4653 to withdraw. Players that fail to notify the NCGA prior to their starting time will be listed as No Shows.
Refunds:
In the event of injury or illness, contact the USGA at 908-326-1950 for a refund prior to August 13, 2018. No refunds will be issued after August 13, 2018. A $35 service charge will be deducted from all refunds.
ADDITIONAL RULES INFORMATION
Rules Information:
The Rules of Golf effective January 1, 2016 are in effect and are supplemented by the 2018 USGA Hard Card. The Committee will provide any additional Local Rules needed at the qualifying site. Limitation of Golf Balls:
The optional condition in Appendix I known as the “One Ball” Rule is in effect. See Appendix I.
Automotive Transportation:
The use of automotive transportation is prohibited for players and caddies. See Appendix I.
Distance-Measuring Devices:
In Sectional qualifying and in the Championship proper, a player may obtain distance information by use of a distance-measuring device. If, during a stipulated
round, a player uses a distance-measuring device to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., elevation changes, wind speed, etc.), the
player is in breach of Rule 14-3.
Footwear:
It is a condition of the competition, including at all qualifying sites and the Championship proper, that shoes with traditionally-designed spikes (regardless of composition, i.e., ceramic, plastic, etc.) or spikes, regardless of design, comprised entirely or partially of metal (if such metal may come in contact with the course) are prohibited during the stipulated round. Penalty for breach of this condition: Disqualification.
Grooves Condition:
Optional condition prescribed in Decision 4-1/1 is in effect. You may check to see if your grooves are conforming by using the Informational Club Database - http://www.usga.org/InfoClubsDB/intro.html
