IRISH SENIOR MEN’S AMATEUR OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

 

Please note that the Terms of Competition below must be read in conjunction with the General Regulations for Golf Ireland Competitions available online and in print in the GOLF IRELAND HANDBOOK.

 

a) Age Group: Seniors (over-50) as set out in Section A of the General Regulations, with the following additional categories:

- 55 and over

- 60-64

- 65-69

- 70 and over

 

b) Gender: Male

 

c) Handicap : Maximum Handicap Index of 12.0. A player off 12.1 or higher at close of entries is not eligible.

 

d) Eligibility: See Section A of the General Regulations

 

e) Size of Field: 132

 

f) Ballot: Lowest Handicap Index at close of entries, with the proviso that the following in age categories are included: 

- At least 10 entrants who are 55-59

- At least 8 entrants who are 60-64

- At least 6 entrants who are 65-69

- At least 4 entrants who are 70 and over

 

g) Form of Play: Stroke Play

 

h) No. of Rounds: Three – one on each day of the Championship. Please note - if the leading player in any of the above age categories does not make the cut, they will be awarded the category prize on the basis of the scores achieved in the first two rounds. 

 

i) Cut: Top 54 plus ties after two rounds
