FIELD LIMIT

Field will be limited to 156 qualified entrants. At the close of entry, the field of 156 will be filled by the lowest USGA Handicap Indexes and Golf Canada Handicap Factors in addition to exempt players and Presidential Invitees. A list of currently registered players with handicap index is available on the event portal HERE.

 

Players who do not make the field of 156 at the close of entries will be placed on a waitlist in order of handicap index. If a spot becomes available, players will be contacted immediately by the PNGA up until the start of the competition. All players who do not make the final field will receive a full refund. 

 

ENTRY DEADLINE

Entry applications, along with the appropriate fee, must be completed or received by the PNGA by
12:00 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024.

 

REFUND POLICY

Refunds due to cancellation before the close of entry are subject to a $10 service charge. After the close of entry and up until round one pairings are released, players who withdraw for any reason will be refunded 50% of the entry fee. No refund for any reason will be issued after round one parings have been released.

 

COURSE YARDAGE

Course yardage is subject to change based on weather/course conditions. Hole-by-hole yardages are posted on the championship portal and will be emailed to players. Course Yardage: 7,219 yards, par-72

 

ONSITE REGISTRATION

All contestants must register in person with the PNGA at Wine Valley GC prior to starting round one play. Registration will be located in the pavilion during the following times:

SUNDAY, JULY 7:           12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

MONDAY, JULY 8:         6:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.                            

 

STARTING TIMES AND PAIRINGS

Stroke play starting times for Monday, July 8 and Tuesday, July 9 will be posted on the championship portal and emailed to players on Monday, July 1. Preferred starting times and pairing requests will not be accepted.

 

SCHEDULE

STROKE PLAY: 36-hole stroke play to determine 64 qualifiers for match play. A tie for lowest qualifying scorer or last qualifier’s place will be decided immediately by a hole-by-hole play-off after the final group finishes on Tuesday, July 9.

 

MONDAY, JULY 8: Round 1 – Stroke Play Qualifying

Starting times from the #1 & #10 tees: 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. & 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

 

TUESDAY, JULY 9: Round 2 – Stroke Play Qualifying

Starting times from the #1 & #10 tees: 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. & 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

 

MATCH PLAY: A draw based on qualifying scores will be used. Ties in qualifying rounds will be decided by a blind draw, except that places of those participating in a play-off will be determined by performance in the play-off.

 

WEDNESDAY, JULY 10: Round of 64

Starting times from the #1 tee: 7:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.

 

THURSDAY, JULY 11: Round of 32 

Starting times from the #1 tee: 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.

 

THURSDAY, JULY 11: Round of 16 

Starting times from the #1 tee: 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.

 

FRIDAY, JULY 12: Quarterfinals 

Starting times from the #1 tee: 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 a.m.

FRIDAY, JULY 12: Semifinals

Starting times from the #1 tee: 11:30 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.

 

SATURDAY, JULY 13: 36-hole Championship Match followed by an awards ceremony

PRACTICE ROUND

Contestants may play one complimentary practice round prior to the championship. Practice rounds will be available on Sunday, July 7 beginning at 12:00 p.m. for out of town contestants. Local contestants can play a practice round on weekdays during the week prior on a space available basis at the discretion of the golf shop. All practice round tee times must be made by calling the Wine Valley GC golf shop at (509) 525-4653, beginning on Tuesday, June 18 after the field is set. All practice round starting times are at the discretion of the golf shop staff.

 

STRACKALINE COURSE YARDAGE BOOKS

FOOD SERVICE (HOSTED LUNCH)

The hosted lunch allows each player to order one meal off a limited menu and a non-alcoholic drink between Monday-Saturday. Food service will be available in the clubhouse restaurant beginning at 6:30 a.m. each day. Grab and go breakfast items along with drinks and snacks will be available in the morning. The restaurant will remain open throughout the day with lunch service beginning at 11:00 a.m.

 

BOTTLED WATER

The PNGA will provide bottled water during the championship. Coolers will be at multiple locations on the golf course. Players must properly dispose of all empty water bottles and must not place them back in a cooler or on the ground next to coolers. Failure to properly dispose of empty water bottles in a violation of the PNGA Golf Code of Conduct and may result in penalty. A beverage cart will not be on the course during play. METHODS OF PAYMENT

Wine Valley GC accepts all major credit cards and cash.

 

HOURS OF OPERATION

The golf shop and driving range will open at 6:00 a.m. and close at 6:00 p.m. each day.

 

RANGE BALLS

Warm up range balls will be provided to contestants on the driving range before each round.

 

LOCKER ROOM

Wine Valley GC does not have a locker room. Bathrooms are located at the pro shop.

 

GOLF CARTS

The Local Rule prohibiting the use of motorized transportation for competitors as prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect.

 

SPECTATOR CARTS

To provide an equal championship platform for all competitors, the use of carts by spectators is not permitted by the PNGA.

 

 

 

CHAMPIONSHIP ACCOMMODATIONS FOR DISABLED SPECTATORS

The PNGA is committed to providing an enjoyable spectator experience for people with disabilities at PNGA championships. Requests from spectators seeking transportation onto the golf course due to a permanent disability, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), should be submitted one week in advance to the PNGA Championship Department. While spectator carts may not always be available at each site, the PNGA will make every effort to accommodate these requests when available.

 

Generally, an ADA covered disability is defined as a “physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of the major life activities of the individual”. See, 42 USCA §12102. Spectators with a “temporary” injury or impairment that is not an ADA disability will not be allowed use of a golf cart under this Policy.

PULL CARTS

Pull carts are permitted. Limited host club pull carts are available at no charge. Players may provide their own pull cart.

 

CADDIES

Host club caddies will not be available. A player may provide his own caddie. Caddies will be required to wear a caddie bib provided on the starting tee.

 

PRIZES
A) Stroke Play – A crystal award will be awarded to the lowest qualifying scorer. The medalist’s name will also be engraved on the perpetual trophy. In the event of a tie for medalist honors, the outcome will be determined by a hole-by-hole playoff.

 

B) Match Play – Crystal prizes will be awarded to the champion, runner-up, semifinalists and quarterfinalists. The champion will have his name engraved on the Macan Cup Perpetual Trophy.

 

C) Hole-In-One and Eagle Awards – Awards will be given to any contestant who scores a hole-in-one

during either the stroke or match play portion of the championship. Awards for eagles will be presented to any contestant who scores an eagle during the 36-hole stroke play qualifying.

 

AWARDS CEREMONY

A brief awards presentation ceremony will take place immediately following the final match on Saturday, July 13 at approximately 4:30 p.m. 

 

EXEMPTIONS

The 2024 PNGA Men’s Amateur Champion will receive exemptions into all future PNGA Men’s Amateur Championships and the 2024 Pacific Coast Amateur Championship.

GHIN SCORE POSTING

The PNGA will post competition scores for all players to the USGA GHIN System. Players will need to post their own scores to Golf Canada.

 

STROKE LIMIT POLICY

Players must return a score within 12 strokes of the course rating in at least one of the two stroke play qualifying rounds. Failure to do so will disqualify the player from entering the PNGA Men’s Amateur Championship for a minimum of one year.

 

DRESS CODE

Players and caddies must be neat in appearance with respect to personal grooming and clothing while on host club property. The PNGA Dress Code Policy is available at the following link: thepnga.org/championship-home/championship-policies/ and will be provided to all players, along with any additional measures required by the host club, in the Player Memorandum.

 

CODE OF CONDUCT

The PNGA expects all contestants, caddies, gallery, and guests to exhibit proper conduct and behavior on the golf course and anywhere on club property during a PNGA championship. Unbecoming conduct or behavior may be grounds for immediate disqualification, at any time, from any PNGA event. The following are some examples of unbecoming conduct or behavior:

  • Repeated use of loud, abusive, and/or profane language
  • Throwing and/or breaking equipment (club, ball, etc.) in anger or frustration
  • Damaging host club, PNGA, and/or fellow contestant property
  • Public criticism or verbal abuse of host club, officials, volunteers or staff, and/or PNGA volunteers, staff or fellow contestants
  • Potential endangerment of others
  • Intentionally violating stated club policy
  • Violation of PNGA Dress Code and/or Footwear Policy
  • Littering or other improper disposal of water bottles, including placing next to on-course coolers
  • Other conduct deemed unbecoming

The Committee in charge of the competition shall be the sole judge of determining Conduct Code violations.

 

UNOFFICIAL WITHDRAWAL

During play of the championship, a competitor who withdraws must notify PNGA staff and fill out a withdraw form. Entrants who unofficially withdraw (by not notifying PNGA staff or without having sufficient reason to withdraw) will not be granted entry into any future PNGA championship for a minimum of two years.

 

PACE OF PLAY POLICY

Players are encouraged to be familiar with the PNGA’s Stroke Play Pace of Play Policy and the PNGA’s Match Play Pace of Play Policy, which are in effect for this championship.

 

LOCAL RULES AND TERMS OF THE COMPETITION
Players are encouraged to be familiar with the PNGA’s 2024 Local Rules and Terms of the Competition, which will be in effect at all championships.

 

PROHIBITED USE OF AUDIO EQUIPMENT

Rule 4.3 is modified in this way: During a round, a player is not allowed to use an electronic device to listen to music or other audio (such as podcasts or the like), including by using speakers, headphones or earbuds. Penalty for breach of Local Rule - see Rule 4.3.
