SOUTH OF IRELAND MEN’S AMATEUR OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

Please note that the Terms of Competition below must be read in conjunction with the General Regulations for Golf Ireland Competitions available online and in print in the GOLF IRELAND HANDBOOK.

 

a) General: The Championship will be played annually on the links of Lahinch Golf Club in accordance with the General Regulations for Golf Ireland Championships as well as the specific regulations hereunder and will be under the control and management of the Championship Committee, which will consist of officials appointed by the Munster Regional Executive of Golf Ireland and officials appointed by Lahinch Golf Club.

b) Age Group: General

c) Gender: Male

d) Handicap : Max Handicap Index at close of entries 2.0

e) Eligibility: See Section A of the General Regulations

f) Size of Field: Top 150 entrants using the formula for all Golf Ireland Bridgestone Tour Events will qualify for the field.

g) Ballot: Entrants will be admitted to the field at the close of entries based on the standardised balloting criteria prescribed for Bridgestone Tour events (General Regulations: Appendix 1)

h) Form of Play: Stroke Play (Qualifying) and Match Play (Knockout)

i) No. of Rounds: Two Qualifying rounds & Six Knock-out rounds, all played over 18 holes

j) Cut:

i) 64 players advance based on Stroke Play qualifying, with ties resolved in accordance with Section E of the General Regulations, provided that any player on Senior International duty during the Official Practice Days or in the Qualifying Rounds may, at Committee’s discretion, be exempted from qualifying and entitled to entry to the Match Play Stage.

ii) The draw for the knockout rounds will be conducted in accordance with the automatic draw, except that the Committee may seed 8 players from those making the cut and the remaining 56 will be in score order.
