Balloting Provision |
|
|
2.(b) |
The following are exempt always provided they enter the Championship: i) The top-30 players on the previous year’s Bridgestone Order of Merit ii) Members of the Men’s National High Performance Panel at the time of the championship iii) The top-four finishers in the previous year’s championship iv) The defending Irish Mid-Amateur Open Champion v) Up to six domestic exemptions extended to Irish players at the Committee’s discretion vi) Further international exemptions such as those that may be granted to international or other representative squads, at the discretion of the Committee |
(d)
3. |
While the balloting provisions of (3) below will apply to these Championships, they will only apply to any places decided on Handicap Index. Therefore, where a player is exempt under b) above or has qualified on the basis of position on the World Amateur Golf Rankings, they will not be further assessed on the basis of the impact of General Play Scores on their Handicap Record. _______________________________________________ Where an oversubscription in entries arises and Handicap Index is used to determine places in the field, the balloting provisions with regard to General Play will apply.
|
(c) |
In the event of an oversubscription of entries, following the inclusion of the above-mentioned exemptions, the remaining places in the field will be determined on the basis of positions on the World Amateur Golf Rankings (up to 4,000 on said rankings). If, after balloting on this basis, places remain to be filled, these will be determined on the basis of Handicap Index at the Close of Entries. |
